Trent Rockets completely outplay Birmingham Phoenix here at Edgbaston. The Phoenix side needs to forget this loss quickly and get back to the drawing board. Samantha Bates (Hero of the Match): (On having the third best figures on Debut in the competition) Ah, it's pretty surreal to be fair. It's pretty cool to play my first game here, to play for Trent Rockets and also get the win on the board.
(On spinners bowling majority of the sets) Yeah, it was kind of key leading into this contest as we thought spin heavy might be good especially here at Edgbaston. So, it was nice that it paid off.
(On her attacking the stumps today) Yeah, that was the plan pretty much. I spoke to our spin coach who played a lot of cricket here and said that you just need to hit the stumps as much as you can. Nice that Plan A worked for me and I stuck there.
(On their overall bowling unit) Yeah, I think Kimmy (Garth) bowled really well upfront. To bowl 10 upfront and I think she went for 3 runs which was pretty special. So, nice that I kind of got the reward.
(On the ground fielding and catching today) Look, we actually had a kind of frantic warm-up. So, we think we must stick to that. Credit to the girls for that.
(Did she think that it will be so one-sided this game?) Definitely no. We did our plans in the team meetings and we knew that they bat deep. So, to have them for how many wickets and not many runs was pretty cool. We kind of continued that down the order.
(How much will this win boost the dugout?) Yeah, definitely. I think the vibe in the group is really cool coming into this game. For Dunks (Dunkley) and Moons (Mooney) to come out and bat the way they did was pretty cool to see."

The Rockets scored 53 at the end of the powerplay for the loss of only one wicket.
