The high-octane action in the WCL 2026 continues to come thick and fast. Mark your calendars for the next blockbuster clash on 10th October, where the India Champions lock horns with the South Africa Champions at 9 PM IST. Until then, thank you for joining us, take care, and cheers for now!
Signing off from the commentary box, this is the trio of Nikhil Kalla, Manan Mehta, and Rajarshi Das, alongside our expert scorer and analyst, Zeeshan Naiyer We hope you enjoyed our live coverage of this thrilling double-header as the batters took center stage in the desert.
That is all we have for you from this absolute run-feast in Sharjah, where the West Indies Champions made a mockery of a 219-run target to secure a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh. It has been a day dominated by the chasing teams, the afternoon fixture saw South Africa coast to a comfortable win, and the West Indies mirrored that dominance tonight, hunting down a massive 200-plus total with astonishing ease to wrap up the contest.
Chris Gayle (Skipper of West Indies Champions): "(On the start) We needed that start, as chasing anything over 200, we needed a good start and on a track as batting-friendly as this, we were bound to go hell for leather and it all came out well for me and the side.

(On big sixes) I was just looking to hit the ball over the fence and crunch time is coming now, so we'll be looking to get more points on the board.

(On the chase) SA posted over 200 against us and from that game we all decided that we need to score at a good clip if we are to go deep in the tournament."
Mohammad Mahmudullah (Bangladesh Captain): "[Were Bangladesh short at the end of the first innings?] I think we were 15-20 short with the bat. The way we batted at the end was good. Rony Talukdar batted exceptionally well. He gave us the start and batted through, but credit goes to Walton and Gayle for how they batted. They took the game away from us.

[Did the start from Chris Gayle and Lendl Simmons kill the chase?] Probably. Whenever your opponent is chasing 200+, you know they are going to come hard. You need early wickets to crack the game open. But as I mentioned, they batted brilliantly.

[On Rony Talukdar's innings] That was brilliant. I was really excited to see him get to the 3-figure mark. Unfortunately, he did not. But he batted exceptionally well. Tremendously well."
Chadwick Walton (Player of the Match): "(On lighting up the tournament) It's good to get over the line today as well. Kudos to the guys, they played really well today as well.

(On feeling any pressure) The surface is good. When you have players like DJ Bravo, Rayad (Emrit) and Sheldon (Cottrell) to come, I know these guys can hit sixes, so the pressure was never on. I know that they can get the job done.

(On talking about calculations on the run-chase) Just try and hit as many sixes as you can (chuckles).

(Mood in the camp) The mood in the camp is always great when you have players in the camp like these players. It's always good. (Name one character?) Fidel. (Laughs)"
