Well that's all folks from this T20i between Australia Women and Ireland Women. I am Anirudh, singing off on behalf of my co-commentator Nikhil and our scorer / analyst Raju! Do join us for the next one, until then Good Night and stay safe!
Meg Lanning | Australian Captain: "The bowlers set up the win for us, taking wickets throughout, keeping the run rate down, and an improved bowling performance from yesterday. It was coming on nicely to the bat which made things easier, credit to the bowlers to restrict them to under 100 runs and it was an easy chase there after. It was nice to finish it off and not throw away the wicket, it was important to spend some time in the middle and get used to the conditions. I think the pitch is excellent but it is maybe a bit slower than what we have faced before. We had good shot selection and didn't have to take the aerial route too much. We want to give opportunities to the players out in the middle, and I still think there's a lot more scope of improvement in the future."
Alana King: "I enjoyed my time out here. It's all about adapting and yesterday it was hard to grip the ball owing to the weather but today it was much better. I think you just make sure the ball is nice and dry around the seam area, something we have done before which helped us for sure. We have come over here to play with fun which we haven't done in a long time and it's a good experience. There are a few things we need to improve one, specially the wides, maybe it's the conditions but we will be looking at that for sure."
Alana King is the Player of the match!
Time for the post match presentation.
A game that has seen many extras, hands Australia the victory with 4 WIDES! The result of this game may not have been in doubt, but the manner of Australia's victory is commendable, showing off once again why they are the best side in the world, Australia have defeated the Irish with 9 wickets and 7 overs to spare!
It all started with a fantastic bowling performance in the first innings! Megan Schutt kicked off the collapse with a wicket of the last ball of her first over! And by the end of the 11th over Ireland were reeling at 44/5! Their batting never looked like recovering from the top order collapse, although thanks to some resistance offered by their lower middle order, Ireland were able to bat out the entire 20 overs and set a three figure target for the Aussies.
However, a 100 run chase was never going to deter the Aussies. Ireland had the golden opportunity to send Beth Mooney back cheaply but a dropped catch meant she had another lease of life. Beth Mooney then took matters into her own hands, smashing two boundaries of the next over and eventually playing a fantastic unbeaten knock of 45 runs from 33 balls to guide Australia to victory! She was well supported by her skipper Meg Lanning who scored a brisk 39 runs off 33 balls!
Ireland will be disappointed with their performance, but will take home a huge experience and confidence boost which is sure to pay dividends in the future. With an entire tri-series ahead of them, where they play Pakistan twice and Australia once more, they will look to get the most out of this tri-series.
Australia on the other hand, could not have asked for a better start to the series. However, the high number of extras from their bowling department will be an issue they will address soon. But today, it's time for celebration!
4wd FOUR+WIDE!!! So, we close this game here with a victory for the baggy greens as they have defeated Ireland without any major hiccup. This was a good length delivery wide down the leg and the keeper fails to collect this as this has been boundary of a wide delivery.
12.5 J Maguire to B Mooney
2 Good length delivery, outside the off stump, Mooney punches it through covers to pick up a couple.
