Well, Australia were too hot to handle for Bangladesh as the Aussies continue their winning streak at Allan Border Field. They kick off their home summer with a thumping victory and will look to carry this momentum into the second ODI on Sunday. Do join us for that one.
Tahlia McGrath (Australia Women Captain): "[Pleased with the win?] Yeah, pretty happy. That was the goal. That was quality with the ball. Phoebe was clinical with the bat and the rest chipped in as well.
[On making bowling changes when are so many options available] We are spoiled for choices. Every time I have to make bowling changes, there are eight options running in my mind. All of the bowlers executed really well today.
[On Phoebe Litchfield] She plays with such freedom. She has got every shot in the book. She trains very hard. She has got the talent but she has got that work ethic as well."
Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Women Captain): "(Her assessment of the game) First of all, I think we lost early wickets. So, we couldn't capitalize in the middle phase, couldn't get partnerships. I think it really costed us. At the end, Ritu played brilliantly and tried to build some partnerships out there.
(On the positives to takeaway from this game) I think there were a lot of positives to be honest. Habiba Pinky bowled really well in her first match. She was very impressive and very attacking. However bowled apart from her, managed to bowl in the right areas. Our fielders also backed up really well. We need to take this positives moving into the next game.
(Anything to improve ahead of the next game?) I think we need to be cautious against the new ball bowlers next time around. We cannot afford to lose so many wickets inside the powerplay. We need to be calm and patient with our approach. We know that we have that control. So, we will deliver our best in the next game."
Annabel Sutherland (Player of the Match): "[Feeling after getting the win?] Just nice to be back out there in yellow. It’s been a long time since we played ODI cricket. Nice to be back.
[What were her plans while bowling today?] Back of the hand slower balls I’ll work on. It was nice to use those. It was holding a bit there. Few different fields and trying some stuff.
[On Phoebe Litchfield's knock] Pretty good to watch. Just the way she can score throughout the ground and plays spin, everyone in the group looks at. She wants to improve and get better as a player.
[Things to improve before the next match?] Good question. I thought we were pretty clinical all-around. We would like some more discipline. Good day for us."
Player of the Match: Annabel Sutherland

2:58 PM IST & 7:28 PM Local Time: A cakewalk for Australia here at Allan Border Field as they continue their winning streak at the venue. They kick off their home summer in emphatic fashion, registering a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh. Australia take a 1-0 lead in the series.
After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh Women struggled to build any momentum and failed to accelerate through the innings. Experienced batter Nigar Sultana Joty scored 29 off 86 balls, while Ritu Moni showed some fight lower down the order with 45 off 63 deliveries to emerge as the top scorer. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 166 in 49.4 overs, with Annabel Sutherland leading the Australian attack with an impressive 4/30.
