Until then, I am Dev Rajawat, signing off, along with my co-commentator, Manan Mehta, and scorer Manish Bishnoi. That’s it from our side. Thanks for joining. But cricket doesn’t sleep. Plenty is happening around the world. Switch tabs, follow the fun. Goodbye from this tab! TAKE CARE! BREATHE AND SMILE! CIAO!!!!
2:57 PM IST, 11:27 PM LOCAL TIME: Sometimes cricket defeats the weather... and sometimes the weather remains unbeaten. What a frustrating end to what was shaping up to be an absolute run-fest in Zemst. After earlier rain delayed proceedings, the groundstaff worked tirelessly to get the game underway, and a shortened 10-over contest with a 3-over Powerplay was eventually agreed upon. Akcel United Brussels won the toss and elected to field, and for one over, it looked like a masterstroke. Jack Jarvis produced a sensational wicket maiden to remove Sam Harper for a golden duck, leaving the Ghent Gladiators stranded at 0/1. But then came the counterattack. George Munsey and Josh Brown turned survival into destruction, launching a breathtaking assault that rocketed the Gladiators to 91/2 in just 6 overs at a staggering run rate of 15.16. Unfortunately, before the contest could reach its conclusion, the rain returned and forced the match to be abandoned.

How dramatic was the Powerplay? It could not have started more differently for the two teams. Jarvis struck with the very first ball of the innings as Harper edged behind for 0, and the opening over finished as a wicket-maiden. At 0/1 after one over, Brussels were firmly on top and dreaming of a collapse. Then Josh Brown arrived and flipped the script completely. Khalid Ahmadi's second over disappeared for 19 runs, while Danru Ferns endured a nightmare third over worth 26 runs. By the end of the shortened 3-over Powerplay, the Gladiators had stormed to 45/1. The partnership between Munsey and Brown had already erased the early damage and shifted all the pressure back onto the bowlers. One wicket. Forty-five runs. Cricket can change quickly.

What happened after the Powerplay? More boundaries. More sixes. More punishment. Brown and Munsey refused to slow down, taking 20 runs from the fourth over and another 15 from the fifth. Brown was particularly brutal, smashing 59 from just 22 balls with three fours and seven towering sixes at a strike rate of 268.18. Munsey played the perfect supporting role, remaining unbeaten on 27 from only 11 deliveries with four sixes of his own. Together they added a remarkable 90-run stand after the first-ball wicket. Sheraz Sheikh finally ended Brown's fireworks at 90/2 in the sixth over, but the damage had already been done. The Gladiators finished at 91/2 after 6 overs, projecting towards a massive total in the shortened contest.

Sadly, the rain clouds had other plans. The weather returned, the covers came back on, and with no possibility of further play, the match was officially abandoned. A result was denied. A thrilling contest was left unfinished. And the biggest winner of the day turned out to be the rain once again.
2:12 PM IST and 10:42 AM Local Time: Uh oh! It looks like we are going off now. The rain is coming down quite heavily and the groundstaff runs out with the covers. The delay shall be a considerable one as it is pretty cloudy and dark out there. The game hangs in favour of the Ghent as of now thanks to some incredible hitting by Josh Brown and George Munsey. The have raced to 91/2 in 6 overs and promise to post something really if and when we resume.

5.5 Sheraz Sheikh to JJ Smuts
0 Slows it up, short and around leg. Smuts tries to nudge it but misses. Gets hit on his front pad.
JJ Smuts comes in at number 4! It has started to drizzle as well.
Finally, the breakthrough comes. A rare, mistimed shot from Josh Brown. Danru Ferns makes a good dive at long off and completes the catch quite gracefully.
