4:39 PM IST, 1:09 PM LOCAL TIME: Asian Stars lost skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan for a duck in the very first over, rebuilt smartly through Sandeep Singh, exploded at the death courtesy of Devinder Singh's breathtaking unbeaten 58 off 21 balls, and piled up 186/6. If that wasn't enough, their bowlers made sure the chase never truly began, skittling the Pakistan Panthers out for 101 to seal a commanding 85-run victory. Was it one-sided? The scoreboard certainly says so. But it was built on two perfect phases - an explosive finish with the bat and a ruthless start with the ball.
The innings could not have started worse for the Stars. Mohammad Irfan struck in the very first over, removing Dilshan without a run on the board and giving the Panthers the perfect start. Would that dent the batting side? Not for long. Sandeep Singh counterattacked brilliantly, peppering the boundary rope with seven fours during his fluent 33 off 33 balls, while Dilshan Munaweera settled in at the other end. Their superb 60-run second-wicket partnership completely changed the mood of the innings after the early wobble.
