Of course, Team CREX will be there to call it. Do join us then. For now, this is Darpan saying goodbye on the behalf of Pritam, Manish and Aman! Cheerio!
Meanwhile, Afghanistan have plenty to ponder upon. They repeated many of their mistakes from the first game and hardly posed a challenge to the world champions. They would want to come back stronger and give a better account of themselves on September 17, when the final fixture of the series will be played. For India, it could be a dead rubber, but for the hosts, their pride will be at stake.
Twice in two matches now, India have breezed past the visiting hosts. The matches might have been one-sided, but their fans who witnessed a horror tour of the UK not too long back, will not complain. With this victory tonight, Shreyas Iyer now has two series wins as a captain under his belt.
Shreyas Iyer (India Captain): "(On the performances so far in the series) Yes, certainly. Looking at the last match performance and coming into this one, we were demanding a comprehensive win and today was the right example of it.
(Has he eased nicely in terms of the role as T20I skipper after not starting well?) Yes. It was a tough pill to swallow at the start. You know the journey is always going to be a roller-coaster. You need to be equilibrant as much as possible and see to it that you enjoy the moment and not think much about what has happened in the past. I have said it in my previous interviews as well that the more you embrace the situation, the better it gets.
(Do we expect a few changes in the 3rd T20I?) See, definitely we want all of them to get used to the wicket and the conditions and also get some practice. It would be nice to give an opportunity to the players who have been sitting out and change the combination a little bit."
Ibrahim Zadran (Afghanistan captain): "(His thoughts on the performance) We spoke a lot again. We did not get what we wanted. As a group, we discussed about it, on how to improve, on how to approach international cricket, especially against the top teams. We did not get the momentum in the powerplay. They put pressure on us. I would give credit to their bowlers. (If) we will figure out how to improve on that area, we will (be able to) fight against the biggest team in international cricket.
(On scoring a middling 159) We thought about things, like how to improve from 150-160 to 200+. We need to bring in the right intent. If we get 160 with the right intent, no problem. We should have the intent to score 200+ against the biggest team. But we did not apply that. With the time, I am pretty sure we will improve in that area. But I would say that this was only the second game this year. So, we did not get too many games. But with the time, if we can improve in that area, we will challenge the biggest teams."
Nitish Kumar Reddy (Player of the Match): "(How is the body feeling?) It's good right now. I am feeling on a great level. We have done some great work at the CoE and the body looks fit.
(On his bowling performance tonight compared to the previous game) It feels great. I always wanted to become the greatest all-rounder. For that, I wanted that extra pace which I am getting now. You will have the pros and cons for that as well. You have to agree. I am working on it so that I don't get frequently injured.
(On picking up a wicket in every first delivery of the over tonight) Well, you got to trust your ability during the comeback. I was just believing in myself. It's a funny game and anything can happen any moment."
