Ishan Kishan joins rare list of Indian batters with latest ICC Rating Points (Source: AFP)
Ishan Kishan's stocks in Indian cricket have seen a rapid rise in the last 6 months. Ever since he led Jharkhand to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the Jharkhand Dynamite has been on a roll.
Ishan Kishan was the second-highest run-scorer in the recently concluded T20 series played between India and Zimbabwe, which the Men in Blue won 3-0.
Thanks to this successful campaign, the Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan retained his No.1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I rankings. Not only that, but Ishan also reached a career-best 916 rating points in the ICC Rankings.
Apart from Ishan, only 3 Indian batters have reached the 900-mark in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings. Thus, in this article, take a look at the other players.
1) Virat Kohli: 909 points on July 16, 2025
Even a year after announcing his retirement from the T20 internationals on June 29, 2024, Indian batting legend Virat Kohli saw a change in his T20I ratings, which jumped from 897 to 909.
The development, which occurred on July 16, 2025, saw Kohli officially surpass the 900-point mark in T20I ratings. This made him the first-ever player in the history of the game to have a 900+ rating across all formats.
Interestingly, Virat hadn't played a T20I for over a year, which made the fans question how the change happened.
For the unversed, Virat Kohli crossed 900 rating points in T20Is due to a historical ICC algorithm and data review that re-evaluated past peak performances rather than new match play.
His peak T20I rating was retroactively upgraded from 897 to 909 points (originally achieved after a 2014 match), adding another feather to his already decorated cap.

2) Suryakumar Yadav: 912 points on January 27, 2023
In January 2023, former India T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav reached a new career-high rating in the updated ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.
The talismanic batter reached the rating of 910 points during a T20I against New Zealand. Notably, Suryakumar always remained within striking distance of England batter Dawid Malan in the race to hold the highest rating of all time, but couldn’t so far.
Nonetheless, he remains one of the select few players across the globe to cross the elite 900-point mark.
3) Abhishek Sharma: 931 points on October 1, 2025
Abhishek Sharma made his T20I debut for India on July 6, 2024. However, it only took him a little over a year to smash a world record.
On September 24, 2025, the youngster entered his name in the history books by becoming the third cricketer from India to achieve more than 900 rating points in the ICC T20I batter’s rankings.
Before him, only Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav had managed to achieve more than 900 rating points.
But this does not stop here!
Eventually, in October 2025, the India opener broke a record that had lasted for almost five years by reaching the highest-ever rating on the ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings.
Abhishek reached a rating of 931 points following a stylish half-century during India’s successful semi-final victory over Sri Lanka at the Asia Cup and in the process overtook the previous best rating of 919 points, which was achieved by England right-hander Dawid Malan in 2020.
4) Ishan Kishan: 910 points on July 29, 2025
Ishan Kishan smashed 145 runs in total in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe at a strike rate of 154 and an average of 48.33.
He currently boasts of 910 rating points but had briefly reached 916 points, the third-highest T20I rating in history after Abhishek Sharma (931 points) and Dawid Malan (919 points), after his 44-ball 81 with nine fours and two sixes in the second T20I.
He then lost six rating points after mustering only a 26-ball 29 in the final game to end at 910. Nonetheless, his 916 points remain his the career-best rating, which is more than what former captains Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli attained in their respective T20I careers.
