In the initial few seasons of IPL, scoring a 200+ total in an innings was considered a major achievement for a team. But as time progressed and batting dynamics changed in the tournament, high-scoring affairs have become the new normal in the tournament’s template.

The trend of high-scoring has increased rapidly in IPL, especially in the last two editions in 2024 and 2025. Hence, here, we’ll have a look at the five highest match aggregates in the tournament’s history.

5 Highest Match Aggregates In IPL History

5. 504 runs - DC vs MI, Match 43, IPL 2024

Delhi Capitals hosted the Mumbai Indians in the 43rd game of IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 27, 2024. This game ended as one of the iconic games in the tournament’s entire history. The then-MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first.

Batting first, the Capitals posted a big total of 257 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, the Mumbai Indians went quite close, yet it remained out of their reach as they were restricted to the score of 247 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the entire 20 overs.

Eventually, DC won the game by 10 runs, with the match ending with the combined aggregate of 504 runs in 40 overs. It ranks fifth in the list of the highest match aggregates in IPL history.

4. 523 runs - SRH vs MI, Match 8, IPL 2024

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians took on each other in the eighth game of IPL 2024 on March 27, 2024. MI won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, it backfired on them as SRH piled up a massive total of 277 runs for the loss of just three wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

The Mumbai Indians scored 200+ but failed to chase the target; they ended up scoring 246 runs for the loss of five wickets. SRH won this game by 31 runs, and a 523-run aggregate in 40 overs was recorded in this game, which is the fourth-highest match aggregate in the tournament’s history.

3. 523 runs - KKR vs PBKS, Match 42, IPL 2024

In the 2024 edition, the eventual champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, locked horns with Punjab Kings in the tournament’s 42nd match on April 26, 2024. The game was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where the Kings won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first.

Batting first, Shreyas Iyer’s men posted a big total of 261 runs for the loss of six wickets courtesy of brilliant half-centuries scored by Phil Salt and Sunil Narine. Their fifties were followed by Venkatesh Iyer’s 23-ball 39.

Later in the second innings, the Punjab Kings made a stunning comeback during the run chase. Jonny Bairstow’s sensational century (108 runs off just 48 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh’s blistering 20-ball 54 were followed by Shashank Singh’s match-winning knock of 68 runs off just 28 balls.

These contributions helped PBKS chase the target comfortably in 18.4 overs, scoring 262 runs for the loss of just two wickets and won the game by a big margin of eight wickets. The match ended with the third-highest match aggregate (523 runs) in IPL history.

2. 528 runs - SRH vs RR, Match 2, IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals faced off in the second game of the 2025 edition at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. The then-visiting skipper, Riyan Parag, won the toss and invited SRH to bat first.

Ishan Kishan’s astonishing comeback century, 106 runs off just 47 balls, following Travis Head’s 31-ball 67, propelled the hosts to a massive total of 286 runs for the loss of six wickets. It also happened to be the second-highest team total in the tournament’s history.

Rajasthan Royals displayed a commendable intent during the chase, but they fell 45 runs short of the target, scoring 242 runs for the loss of six wickets in the entire 20 overs. The massive aggregate of 528 runs in this game is the second-highest match aggregate in the 2025 edition.
