The upcoming PSL 2026 season is ushering in a new ownership era for the Multan Sultans, who find themselves eager to reset their identity and ambitions. Their previous campaign from PSL 2025 was nothing short of a wooden-spoon debacle, as they managed to secure just a solitary win from 10 matches to finish at the bottom of the six-team points table.

With a clean slate now in place, the focus now shifts firmly towards assembling an 11-member combination that can restore their competitive edge in the decade-long tournament.

Ahead of the PSL 2026 season in Pakistan, here is a look at the best possible playing XI of the Multan Sultans franchise.

Multan Sultans Strongest XI For PSL 2026

Top order: Sahibzada Farhan, Shan Masood, Steve Smith

Pakistan run machine Sahibzada Farhan will likely be named as Multan Sultans opener for the PSL 2026 season. Farhan recently concluded the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as its most successful batter, plundering 383 runs in just six innings at an average of 76.60.

The in-form top-order batter is expected to be paired with Pakistan’s Test captain and fellow opener Shan Masood. While Farhan will take on the aggressive role in the powerplay, Masood’s calm approach and elegant stroke play will provide stability at the other end.

Middle order and allrounders: Awais Zafar, Ashton Turner, Josh Philippe, Mohammad Nawaz

Uncapped star Awais Zafar might be handed the number four position. The 25-year-old is capable of working around with singles and doubles, and can hit the odd boundary as evidenced by his T20 strike rate of over 125.

Captain Ashton Turner, a veteran of over 250 T20 matches, will reserve himself at number five in the batting order. The Perth Scorchers legend has been in exceptional form off late, and he holds an innate ability of exploding in the backend of the innings.

Fellow Australian batter Josh Philippe will likely bat at number six, and will also serve as the wicketkeeper of the side. Philippe holds an exquisite T20 strike rate of 133.46, and is now aiming to receive his maiden PSL cap this season.

Star Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz can score the quick runs in the slog overs. Apart from taking the number seven position with the bat, the 32-year-old can also bowl four tight wicket-taking overs with the ball.

Bowlers: Saad Masood, Ahmed Daniyal, Salman Mirza, Tabraiz Shamsi

Young Pakistan all-rounder Saad Masood can chip in quick runs in the lower-order, and can pull off a timely breakthrough with the ball. Masood’s leg-breaks makes him one of the three specialist spinners in the Multan Sultans playing XI this PSL 2026 season, alongside Mohammad Nawaz and South African enigma machine Tabraiz Shamsi.

The left-arm Proteas spinner has picked up over 350 T20 wickets, and is currently one of the most experienced 20-overs campaigners around. Young Pakistan cricketers Ahmed Dhaniyal and Salman Mirza will serve as the two fast bowlers in the playing XI.
