Player of the Match: Samant Jakhar
7:45 PM IST, local time: Haryana put brakes on the Hyderabad juggernaut! They win this match by 124 runs and much like how Jharkhand did earlier in the day, they make it to the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the very first time.
The joy they feel manifests in the celebrations that unfold in front of us. The players on the park rejoice with vehemence and the others run onto the park from the dugout whilst screaming at the top of their voices. One has to feel for Hyderabad though. They have been the team to beat for a long time in this tournament, but have stumbled one step before the summit.
The coin did not land in their favour and they were made to bat first. With a true wicket on offer, Hyderabad's superior net run rate and dew expected in the evening, they needed to score above par. That's exactly what they did. Captain Ankit Kumar set the tone with a sumptuous half-century. Arsh Ranga's cameo up top was just as crucial. But it were two whirlwind knocks later that proved to be the catalysts. Samant Jakhar's 22-ball-60 was authoritative, while Parth Vats' 19-ball-45 exuberant. Stand-in skipper Tanay Thyagarajan and Mohammad Siraj were the most impressive of the Hyderabad bowlers.
The run chase did not start off on a good note. Some poorly executed shots and purposeful bowling from Kamboj and Bhardwaj saw Hyderabad lose 3 wickets within the powerplay. Remember, they did not need to win the match, but only score 195 to qualify for the final. Alas, they could not.
However, their hopes were derailed by Amit Rana, who bowled a magnificent spell of 3/14 in 3 overs, pegging them back further. His preys included Rahul Buddhi, who was the top scorer of the innings. Then, Jakhar, who was the star of the show with the bat in hand, came back to dismiss Tanay Thyagarajan and Ajay Dev Goud and seal it for Haryana.

W OUT! STUMPS RATTLED! IT IS ALL OVER FOR HYDERABAD! A perfect yorker, bang on the roots of the off-pole. Siraj had already moved to his leg and exposed the stumps. Siraj gets late in bringing his bat down and had no answer to it as he gets beaten and the off-pole gets uprooted. Haryana wins this by 124 runs and seals a spot against Jharkhand in the Final of this edition.
The Haryana supporters must have begun to smell the sweet fragrance of a final berth now. Only one wicket away.
