This is it from our side from this top of the table fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League between Chattogram Royals and Rangpur Riders from Sylhet. Rangpur Riders have won the match with 7 balls to spare and 5 wickets and have placed themselves firmly at the top with 4 wins out of 5. Chattogram Royals, however, fell short and are second on the league table right now with 3 wins out of 5 games. This is Utsav Chandak, signing off on behalf of Deepak Prakash and Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. Stay tuned with CREX for all cricket updates.
Nurul Hasan (Rangpur Riders Captain): "The wicket was really good and the way our bowlers reacted is really impressive. (On Kyle Mayers) The big man is always looking for runs and he treated the situation well. He snatched the match from them.
(On middle overs slow batting) I think there was a little  dots, we have a few places to improve on and we are looking for it, still a long way to go.
(On team's fitness concerns) We have 2-3 days of rest and we will be back stronger. Thanks.
Kyle Mayers (POTM): "Yeah, it was a good innings and the timing was good. The team really needed a strong start because chasing 170 was always going to be tough, judging by the previous games here. We had lost a few powerplays earlier in the tournament, the coach spoke about it today, and thankfully, we managed to win the powerplay this time.

Yeah, it was actually a wicket right in my alley. As I said when I got out, it was a good surface, especially compared to the other games where the ball was staying a bit low, there was nice bounce, and the ball was coming through nicely.

(On that outside edge which was not appealed by the bowling team) No, I only realised it when I came off.

My hamstring just felt like it went a little bit. It’s nothing serious — more of a precaution than anything else."

Time for the post-match presentation......
Mahedi Hasan (Chattogram Royals Captain): "The batters did a good job, but today just wasn’t our day. We bowled really well in the first two or three overs, but then lost the momentum. I don’t know how we missed that outside edge and the LBW chance, but Mayers played a really good innings.

Our middle-order batters hadn’t had much opportunity in the last two games, but today they showed great character. Our previous two matches were day games, and this was our first night game after a long time, so the bowlers are still learning how to operate under dew conditions."
9:09 PM IST, 9:39 PM Local Time: Kyle Mayers' destruction up top and a clinical finish from Mahmudullah took Rangpur Riders home with 5 wickets and 7 balls to spare.

In a high-octane encounter at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the Rangpur Riders secured a thrilling 5-wicket victory over the Chattogram Royals. After Rangpur skipper Nurul Hasan won the toss and elected to field, Chattogram’s innings was defined by a steady yet aggressive approach from their foreign recruits. Adam Rossington led the charge with a commanding 58 off 41 balls, punctuated by six boundaries and two sixes. He found an ideal partner in Pakistan's Hasan Nawaz, who played a brilliant hand of 46 off 38 balls, including three towering maximums. Late cameos from Mahedi Hasan and Aamir Jamal ensured the Royals reached a competitive total of 169/5. Rangpur's bowling effort was spearheaded by Akif Javed, who delivered a rare maiden over in his opening spell and finished with 2/29, while Mustafizur Rahman maintained his reputation for precision with 2/32.

The chase began with a historic explosion from Kyle Mayers, who took the game by the scruff of its neck. Mayers hammered the Royals' bowling attack to all parts of the ground, reaching his fifty in just 23 deliveries, the fastest of the BPL season so far. His blitz of 50 off 25 balls set a frantic pace, and while Dawid Malan provided solid support with an electric start, the scoring rate plummeted after Mayers' departure. Malan eventually slowed to a run-a-ball 30 as the Chattogram bowlers, led by a sharp Shoriful Islam, tightened their grip. By the 16th over, the asking rate had climbed past ten runs per over, threatening to derail the Riders’ pursuit as Shoriful finished his impressive spell with 3/37.

However, the tide turned back in favor of Rangpur during the death overs thanks to a calculated "blitzkrieg" from the experienced Mahmudullah and the hard-hitting Khushdil Shah. The duo systematically dismantled the pace of Aamir Jamal and Shoriful Islam, turning a tense situation into a comfortable finish. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 30 off 19 balls, including three fours and a six, while Khushdil added a quick-fire 22 off just 12 deliveries. Their partnership successfully overhauled the target with seven balls to spare, sealing a vital win for the Rangpur Riders in a match that showcased both top-order fireworks and middle order composure.

Rangpur with this win has placed themselves well at the top of the table with 4 wins out of 5 and a healthy +0.702 NRR and Chattogram Royals have conceded their second loss in 5 games and have faced a small dent in their NRR (which is still very healthy, at +1.116).
