Itβs been another complete performance from RCB this season, ticking all the boxes once again. Theyβve completed the double over the Gujarat Giants and have already booked their place in the playoffs. Itβs now three defeats on the trot for the Giants, who will need to pull up their socks quickly.
Interestingly, after last season where chasing sides won all six games at this venue, the Vadodara leg begins this year with the team batting first coming out on top. The action continues tomorrow with Mumbai Indians taking on Delhi Capitals in what promises to be a massive game for both sides.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya & statistician Aman brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπ
Gautami Naik (Player of the Match): "I'm grateful to God for giving me this opportunity. Also, to the management for trusting me and giving me this opportunity.
(On her journey so far) I just want to say that I was enjoying cricket. I just wanted to get a chance. It's been a long journey. I know I have worked hard for this moment. My coaches, my mom, who have stood with me for this moment. I want to say thank you to everyone.
I want to dedicate this award to my sir and my family. They have taken a lot of efforts for me.
(Her favorite shot tonight) I think the six I hit, the momentum and the pressure changed at that moment. I started playing freely after that."

Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women Captain): "Very happy. From where we started in our batting innings and then to get 180+ was excellent. Very, very happy for Gautami. Coming from Domestic cricket, doing well there but performing at such a big stage and coming in to bat at 10/2 and the way she batted was outstanding. I am really proud of her. Richa, Radha & Nadine finished off the innings really well. The bowling plans were spot on too.
(On Gautami Naik) I think the attitude she has had from the first game. She didn't get the opportunity to bat in the first game but the attitude was spot on. You can get out, you can do anything but the attitude has to be right up there. Today again the application was spot on from her. The wicket wasn't easy to bat. She understood it quickly and adapted it really well. She is not that experienced but batted brilliantly. That was a very commendable job.
(On the conditions very different from Navi Mumbai) When I was batting out there and when we lost Grace & Voll and whatever balls I played till the strategic time-out, I told them a target around 160+. Anything above that is a bonus for us. We will be able to defend it with the wicket which we have. From red soil to black soil, we knew how it would play. Last year it was a really good wicket, this year it's a lot on the dryer side. We discussed about that and the girls adapted to it very quickly.
(Different players stepping up for the team) Amazing to see that. When you have five different match-winners in the team, it's really pleasing to see. Everyone has had a moment in this WPL where they have done maybe taken a wicket, broken a partnership or took a good catch. That's something extremely special. Everyone did their contributions for the team.
We are looking forward to the break. We played 3 games in 4 days including the travel day. I am extremely proud of the girls. The message will be clear to them. I will just tell them to take a couple of days break and then we will get rolling again. It's difficult to tell this group as they are working really hard.
We have not been really big on what's going to happen in the future. We have taken one game at a time. The support staff have kept the atmosphere really positive and everyone happy. Whatever happens in the next 10-15 days will be something we will see. We are just looking forward to going out tomorrow and day after coming back to practice hard for the next match."

Nadine de Klerk (Royal Challengers Bengaluru): "Bell has started off very well. Getting wickets of big-hitters upfront. It makes my job easier. Keep the stumps in play and pick some wickets. Just back the other bowlers after the powerplay.
I think it's been tough for the bowlers in Mumbai. To come here where it's a bit harder to bat, to get 170 was a very good total. It gave us something to defend. Our bowlers bowled really well. Keep the stumps in play. You can err in length a bit but keep it straight and it worked for us.
I think we have really good bowlers that have operated in powerplay. Sayali has come in and made an impact. That makes our life easier. We have new ball bowlers who can swing upfront and my job is to hit the stumps. Our bowling group has worked really hard.
It's great to have my family here. To see some reactions from them on the big screen was special.
I just think when different people have put their hands up, it's good to see. Our powerplay bowlers have been brilliant and the rest of the bowlers finishing up. We have different people stepping up. Gautami also played really well. It was a tough wicket and to score 70-odd is a great thing."
Nadine de Klerk puts on the Purple Cap. She is now the highest wicket-taker in WPL 2026.
Ashleigh Gardner (Gujarat Giants Women Captain): "It's pretty frustrating. I'm not going to lie here. When you drop catches and they go on to score runs. It's those small moments that we are not winning at the moment. We have to win the last two games. But it's frustrating.
You have to fight. You have to keep the stumps in play as much as possible. If you saw our wickets, we tried to go across the line. Keeping the stumps in play was the best option. Going down the ground was the best option. There are plenty of learnings which is a positive but standing here after the loss is not good.
(On her plan against Mandhana) We knew that we had to utilize the wicket. The bounce was not necessarily true. The bounce wasn't consistent. I'm a decent match-up against Smriti. Just asking her to go across the line, knowing that she is good square of the wicket.
(Did she expect that knock from Gautami) No. We obviously know the talent in the Indian domestic cricket. Last time we played, Radha made runs. Us as bowlers, me as captain, I had to stay accountable to all the players. We need to speak evenly about all the top seven players. That's what happens when a youngster comes in and makes an impact.
(On getting frustrated while batting) I was pretty angry. It was pretty obvious. I was hitting good shots to the fielders. I felt like they didn't pay much when they missed the stumps. When we bowled wide, the ball went to the boundary. For me, it's making sure that I hit good cricket shots."
