Player of the Match: Devdutt Padikkal
5:09 PM IST & Local Time: That brings an end to the contest! It’s now 10 consecutive wins for the defending champions Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, as they comfortably thrashed Tripura by 80 runs today.

Tripura won the toss and elected to bowl, and their decision paid immediate dividends as Abhijit Sarkar produced a dream opening spell, removing both Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair in the same over to leave Karnataka struggling at 6/2. The early damage was repaired by Devdutt Padikkal and Smaran Ravichandran, who came together with calm assurance to steady the innings. Smaran was put down early, and he made Tripura rue the missed chance as the duo stitched together a vital 136-run stand for the third wicket, swinging momentum Karnataka’s way before Smaran fell for 60 to a brilliant catch from Tejasvi Jaiswal.

Padikkal carried on to underline his excellent form, bringing up his fourth century of the season with a superb 108. KL Rahul looked fluent at number five but departed against the run of play for 35, while the late surge came through Abhinav Manohar, who smashed an unbeaten 79 off just 43 balls to stay not out in the tournament. Shreyas Gopal added a rapid 29 off 15 as Karnataka finished with an imposing 332/7 from their 50 overs, with Abhijit Sarkar the standout bowler for Tripura, returning figures of 4/50.

In reply, Tripura endured a nightmare start to the chase as they lost their top four batters inside the powerplay and were left reeling at 51/4. Skipper Manisankar Murasingh fell soon after the fielding restrictions were lifted, with Tripura losing half their side for just 59. Rajat Dey and Swapnil Singh then came together to add 107 runs for the partnership, occupying the crease for 143 balls. That stand did frustrate Karnataka for a while but did little to ease Tripura’s task as the required rate kept climbing.

Rajat Dey eventually fell for 66 off 102 balls, while Swapnil Singh went on to register his maiden List-A hundred before departing for 100 off 93 deliveries. Sentu Sarkar remained unbeaten on 27, but Tripura were eventually bowled out for 252 in 49 overs. 3 wickets apiece for Vyshak Vijaykumar (3/54) and Shreyas Gopal (3/33).

W Appeal for LBW and the finger goes UP! Length ball around fourth stump, grips and turns back in. Viki simply played down the wrong line. He rocks back and looks to defend it straight. He didn't read the googly, gets beaten on the inside edge and is wrapped on the front pad right in front of the stumps. The umpire raises his index finger. Karnataka win by 80 runs!
Viki Saha walks in at Number 11.
