This is only the third time Zimbabwe have defeated Sri Lanka in a T20I. This win not only helps their net run rate and puts them at the top of the points table, but will also give them a huge confidence boost going forward. Remember, the ICC Men's T20I World Cup 2026 is less than 100 days away and unlike the last time, the Chevrons have qualified for it.

On that note, it is time for troika of Darpan Tikiya, Dev and Ashok Dayma to sign off. The next match of the series will be played on Saturday, November 22 between Sri Lanka and hosts Pakistan. Our coverage for that game will begin at 5:30 PM IST (5:00 PM local time). Do join us then. Goodbye for now!

Sikandar Raza (POTM and Zimbabwe captain): "(On the energy he exhibited in the field) I think I need to do it all the time. As a captain, you need to lead from the front. Once you see the captain doing these good things, you want to follow them. We have a young squad too. When the chips are down, you want to do the dirty work as the senior guy and the captain. I just try to insert myself in those situations and do the right things. Hopefully, others will follow.

(On what pleased him more — batting or bowling) Neither, it is rather the fact that we are heading in the right direction with the vision. We want to take the country forward to a brighter future.

This win puts us in a good position to get to the finals. We were clinical for the most part. 90% of the time. But there were a few areas where we could have been better. I'll talk about them in the change room. Sri Lanka are a fantastic side. One bad game does not make them a bad side."

Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka Captain): "To be honest, the intent just wasn’t there from the start. Credit to the Zimbabwe bowlers, as they hit the right lengths, mixed it up beautifully, and kept us under pressure throughout. But with the experience we have, we should’ve started better. If we had shown intent early and avoided losing wickets in clusters, we could’ve put up a much stronger performance.

Getting bowled out for 95 on a wicket this good is simply unacceptable, especially with the kind of players we have, as most of them have played 50-plus matches. These are the conditions where we should be maximizing our batting, and we failed to do that today. Hopefully, with another game coming up soon, we can bounce back quickly and perform the way we know we can.

About Sanath - yes, he will definitely have some strong words. He’s a legend of the game, he knows these situations inside out, and he understands how to handle players. He’s been giving us a lot of confidence, and it’s disappointing that we couldn’t deliver. But we’ll learn from this and come back stronger."
