That's all we have for you today! Join us back tomorrow as we continue to bring you the LIVE action from around the world!
Until then, this is Anirudh Modi, signing off along with my colleagues Utsav Chandak, Dev Rajawat, and Yogesh Kumar! See you at the next one.
Liam Livingstone (Player of the match): "I have been playing really well. Came in at a really difficult time. It was a must win game for us. The key was to get in and get to a good total. I think probably just slogging to the leg side is something that I have used a lot to my advantage. I got to 25 and then increased the scoring rate. It was my job there to get in there and give him the confidence to play his shots and then score runs in the back end. We have played really bad cricket in the past few games and it is a really important win for us."
Player of the match: Liam Livingstone
Jason Holder (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Captain): "We just finished the game and held the nerve. Credit to Livi, he really set up the victory for us, and Andre was brilliant with the ball as well. His spell was a game-changing spell for us; he is a world-class player. He still has a lot of quality, and still has days left in his career.
I thought he paced it quite well. We lost early wickets, and we were in a situation where we needed a partnership. He had a good partnership with Sherfane, and they paced it well to get us to a big total."
Lockie Ferguson (Desert Vipers Captain): "Obviously, sad that we lost today. The Knight Riders batted really well there and honestly, it was one run too many. We learn from every game, win or lose, but you will more from the losses. So we will regroup and come back stronger in the next game."
We are all set for the Post Match Presentation.
11:38 PM IST, 10:08 PM Local Time | Abu Dhabi Knight Riders pull off a magical victory on the last ball to win in front of their group CEO! They defeat a strong Desert Vipers side by a solitary run to register their second win of the tournament! The streak of 4 defeats in a row comes to an end!
Desert Vipers won the toss and elected to field first! They gave Abu Dhabi Knight Riders an early headache with the wickets of both their openers for 9 runs. However, Liam Livingstone led the middle-order charge with a scintillating knock of 76 runs off 48 balls, and with handy contributions from Hales (25), Sharafu (39), and Rutherford (24), Abu Dhabi were able to romp to a score of 181/5 at the end of their 20 overs.
For Desert Vipers, Lockie Ferguson was their best bowler with 3/34 from his 4 overs. Curran and Tanvir picked up a solitary wicket each.
Come the chase, the target was above par, but Max Holden and Fakhar Zaman took the fight to Abu Dhabi with a brilliant 97-run partnership, before the game changer Andre Russell removed Holden (52) in the 12th over and followed it up with the wicket of Fakhar (44) in the 14th over.
Hasan Nawaz looked in good touch, but his false shot to Ajay Kumar meant he lost his wicket with 23 runs to his name, and was the last batter for the Vipers to cross the 20-run mark. Curran and Hetmyer added a combined 18 runs, and it was only Khuzaima Bin Tanvir's late innings charge of 16 runs off 9 balls that kept the Vipers in touching distance of the total.
However, Andre Russell bowled a gem of an over to give away only 5 runs in the 19th over, and that allowed Ajay Kumar to defend 13 runs in the final over. Even after conceding 5 off an illegal delivery in the last over, Kumar held his nerve to give away only 6 further runs and pick up the wicket of Tanvir that dented the Vipers' final push.
Andre Russell finished the game with 2/16 from his 3 overs. Ajay Kumar chipped in with 2/47. Holder and Stone picked up a solitary wicket each to give Abu Dhabi Knight Riders a brilliant victory!
