Time to conclude our coverage of the 21st T20 match of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2025 between Mangaluru Dragons and Mysore Warriors. Mangaluru Dragons have come out with flying colours by outplaying the Warriors.
Now it's time to shift our attention to the second match of today's double-header between Shivamogga Lions and Bengaluru Blasters. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and the scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma.
Shreyas Gopal (Mangaluru Dragons Captain and Player of the Match):"If we look at the last few games, you can see that we went close. One of the games was a mess-up by the batting unit. If you see the batting conditions became better in the second innings. But reaching around 175 batting first is a big thing.
Kranthi has been an asset for us. I am a big fan of him. I will be happy if he plays at a higher level for Karnataka. Mysore Warriors have always done well. We have reached the semi-finals regularly but this time we want to do better."
Player of the Match: Shreyas Gopal
Time for the post-match presentations.
7:04 PM IST and Local Time | Mangaluru Dragons have completely obliterated the Mysore Warriors in the second innings of the match and bagged another victory in this season by 52 runs.
Lochan Gowda and BR Sharath gave the Dragons a great start. They added 54 runs in their opening stand in 39 legal balls but the Warriors came back well in the next few overs. Gowda (34) and Sharath (25)- two well set batters holed out to Manish Pandey. Aadarsh Prajwal and Aneesh KV fell cheaply and the Dragons were reduced to 75/4.
Macneil Noronha and Shreyas Gopal then decided to rebuild and added 42 for the 5th wicket. Noronha scored 31 off 17 hitting four maximums. Gopal added 29 crucial runs but Shivraj's quickfire cameo of 27 was the game changer. It propelled the Dragons to 173/7.
For the Mysore Warriors, Yashovardhan Parantap took 3 wickets. Kushaal Wadhwani gave away 37 runs to take 2 wickets. Prasidh Krishna, who is playing his first competitive game since the Oval Test took 2 wickets for 25 runs.
Shreyas Gopal himself bowled the first over of the second innings. Karthik SU hit him for a maximum but perished next ball. CA Karthik had some problems to play his shot but he opened up against Gopal in the third over of the innings to hit a few big hits. But the problem arose when the Warriors lost M Venkatesh and Harshil Dharmani and Manish Pandey had to walk in with the team score being 39/3.
Manish hit Kranthi Kumar for three boundaries but in the next over, his opposite number Shreyas Gopal took the better of him on 12. Lankesh KS struggled a bit for 12 balls and got out scoring 11 runs. Hopes shattered for the Warriors when Codanda Ajit Karthik (34) found Kranthi Kumar off Suraj Shinde. Yashovardhan Parantap and Shrinivas Sharath then batted for a bit. Parantap added 28 off 20 balls with 2 sixes and Sharath batted 18 balls to score 14 runs. In the end, they could only post 121 on the board before getting bundled out.
Shreyas Gopal led the team from the front with the ball. He got hit for a few maximums but took three crucial wickets of Karthik SU, Manish Pandey and Lankesh KS. Kranthi Kumar played the perfect second fiddle to his skipper taking 4 wickets for 30 runs in his 3 overs. Rest of the three wickets were picked up by Ronit More, Macneil Noronha and Sachin Shinde.
W WICKET! That's it! Mysore Warriors are skittled for 121 runs, and Mangaluru Dragons win by a massive 52 runs. Around the wicket. Flighted delivery, full, on the stumps. Shetty gets down on a knee and mistimes the slog sweep to deep mid-wicket fielder. Poor batting display from the Warriors.
