And that is a wrap from the 2nd match of SA20. But there is one more match scheduled today in the league between Paarl Royals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. You can switch tabs to follow the fun there.

Until then, I am Dev Rajawat, signing off, along with my co-commentator Manan Mehta and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. That’s it from our side. Thanks for joining. Goodbye from this tab! TAKE CARE! BREATHE AND SMILE! CIAO!
Duan Jansen (Player of the Match): â€śI’m obviously very happy with the performance. Not being involved last season, it was important for me to come back and make a statement, but more importantly, to add value to the team. To play my first game and contribute like that was really pleasing.

From a mental perspective, there was definitely a point to prove. Going through the auction, all those emotions, and wanting to be picked - it’s not easy. But I believe I belong here, and today was about putting in a performance for the team first and then for myself.

Getting the team over the line was the most important thing. I’m actually pretty calm about it now. Those experiences before the auction make you stronger and push you to come back even harder, and I think you could see that today.

As for the Jansen twins - yeah, there’s always a bit of competition. We spoke this morning about game plans, so there’s definitely a friendly rivalry there. We’ve got something on the line between us. I’ll probably send him a message before he goes out… though I think he might already have one.”
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: DUAN JANSEN
Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings Captain): "It is nice to prove people wrong Pommie. Rilee and Wiaan were very good. They batted really well. It was tricky with the new ball but just the maturity they showed out there and built the partnership. That powered us for a decent total. I still felt we were 10-15 short.

Though we knew how the wicket was behaving and were aiming for that hard length to make it difficult for them. The surroundings make you feel comfortable and the environment around you plays a different. Playing in front of the local crowd helps. Though the wicket was not like a typical SuperSport wicket and it took some time for one to adapt to that. How quickly you do it is the key.

It is a scrapy win. One where you have to fight right till the end. It was probably a game they should have won considering how well they started but yeah it was a blue-collar fighting kind of win. The ones we like."
Time for the Post-match presentations...
Keshav Maharaj (Pretoria Capitals Captain): "To start with, I think we probably gave away 10 to 15 runs too many with the ball on a wicket that had a bit of spice in it. Having said that, I thought we pulled it back really well by taking wickets at regular intervals.

With the bat, we laid a good foundation, but then lost our way a little in the middle. That’s an area we’ve clearly identified. Being 44 for 6 in the middle phase is not ideal, and that’s where we could have been a lot better.

Looking back at the bowling, we could have been more consistent with our lengths to avoid that partnership. There were a couple of softer balls, both from spin and seam, and if we clean that up, the final score probably looks very different.

From a captaincy point of view, it’s always a balancing act. Tymal bowled really well up front, as did Codi, but you also have to think about the back end and keep something in reserve for the death overs. You can’t throw all your eggs in the basket early, so it’s a tricky balance, but I thought we did well in phases.

When we get back into the dressing room, the message is simple. It’s the start of the competition, and while it’s not ideal to begin like this, it’s good to shake off the cobwebs early. We’ll take the positives, learn from the negatives, and look to carry momentum into the next game.”
8:06 PM IST and 4:36 PM Local Time: Joburg Super Kings win by 22 runs! The Joburg Super Kings notch up their first ever win at the SuperSport Park in SA 20 history! This has been some comeback from the Super Kings despite not being full strength. They found an opening and then just stormed back into the match to steal the game from the Capitals. Faf du Plessis has had an amazing outing as captain, and he would want his team to continue this fighting spirit all through.

The Joburg Super Kings were put into bat by the Pretoria Capitals. The Capitals quicks made full use of the pace and bounce on offer. Tymal Mills stacked up speeds in excess of 145 and he with his partner Codi Yusuf restricted the JSK side to 16-2 in the fourth over.

Rilee Rossouw and Wiaan Mulder did some much needed rebuilding as they stitched a fine 78 runs stand in just 54 balls to take the score to 94 before the third wicket fell. Rossouw was dismissed at that stage for a fine 48. Mulder followed him soon after he hit one down the throat of long off for 43. The score stood at 110/4 at that point.

Some good running and fine ball striking right at the back end from Dian Forrester and Akeal Hosein pumped the score to 168/6. The pick of the bowlers for the Pretoria Capitals were their spearheads Tymal Mills (2-17) and Codi Yusuf (2-29). Mills at the halfway stage said he felt the Super Kings were below par according to him.

The Capitals openers started the chase in fine fashion. Both Will Smeed and Bryce Parsons looked assured. Parsons was the aggressor, and Smeed took some time to settle before hitting a few powerful shots himself. They raced to 71/0 in 9 overs and looked well in control at that point. That is when cricket played its wicked card.

Akeal Hosein got rid of Smeed and the Super Kings cashed in on the opening. The Capitals lost 5 wickets for the next 18 runs and slipped to 89/5. It was a classic middle order collapse and the well set Parsons also departed for 41 in that rush of wickets. The pace battery of the Super Kings stacked up quiet overs around that as well to mount the required run rate. Keeper Daniel Smith and Roston Chase fought back for a brief period before Mulder knocked him over and the score was 112/6 at that point. It became 114/7 when Smith too got cleaned up. At that point the Capitals needed 55 off 22 balls.

The Pretoria Capitals were restricted to 146/9 eventually and lost the game by 22 runs. The pick of the bowlers for the Joburg Super Kings were Duan Jansen (4-23) and Richard Gleeson (2-33). All in all a great outing for the 'men in yellow.' The Capitals will have some thinking to do before they look to bounce back in their next game.
