The Perth Scorchers have had a superb tour of Melbourne as they thrashed the Renegades on their home turf. It was a clinical performance, and with that, they have earned a qualification spot too. They will now go back to the Optus Stadium back home to take on the Melbourne Stars for an all-important top 2 spot clash!

The BBL carnival moves to the SCG tomorrow! We have the Sydney derby lined up with the Sixers taking on the Thunder.

On that note, I, Manan Mehta, would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Akshay Bhide, Anirudh Modi and Ghanendra Singh Thakur. B-byeee!!!
Finn Allen (Player of the Match): "Going into this game, we knew we had to win, and going into the game against the Stars to secure the home final. It's a bit of a niggle, some cramps, I hope it gets better.

We knew these two games would be huge, thankful for a bit of momentum going into the game on Saturday. Mitch is okay, a little knock, but he should be okay."

5:11 PM IST and 10:41 PM Local Time: Perth Scorchers win by 50 runs! That is a proper hammering from the Perth Scorchers. They have out-skilled Melbourne Renegades in each and every department. Some powerful batting and accurate bowling all through the course of the 40 overs. Most importantly they displace the Melbourne Stars and get to number two in the points table and have OFFICIALLY QUALIFIED.

The Melbourne Renegades won the toss and elected to field first. Both Finn Allen and Mitch Marsh came out all guns blazing. They took on the Renegades new ball bowlers and raced to 41/0 in the powerplay. The first wicket fell when the score 64 and Marsh was the batter dismissed.

Cooper Connolly joined Allen, and the pair continued the good work. Allen was the aggressor and brought up his half century. Connolly did well to give him the strike and they pushed the score to 120 before Connolly was dismissed. From then on Renegades continued to pick regular wickets but they were unable to get past Allen who was striking it cleanly. His partners were also striking it at over a 150 and it just helped the cause. Allen reached his hundred and celebrated a sublime knock.

He was dismissed in the 17th over for 101(53), but the damage caused was enough by then. With some lower order striking, the Scorchers reached 219/7 in 20 overs. It looked 20-30 above par at the halfway stage. The pick of the bowlers for the Renegades were Samuel Elliot (4-28) and Adam Zampa (1-31).

The chase for the Renegades started on the worst possible note. Josh Brown was gone for a duck as he missed a straight one from Cooper Connolly. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Time Seifert led the counterattack. JFM was the main aggressor and tonked a few really big sixes. His dismissal was the big blow though. He got out to a short and wide ball and was absolutely livid with himself.

Mohammad Rizwan, Hassan Khan and Will Sutherland could not get out of single digits. Harry Dixon unfortunately copped one in the throat and had to walk off. From 50/1 the Renegades collapsed to 82/5 in fact 82/6 in 10 overs with Dixon unable to bat as well.

That is when Seifert flicked the switch and kept most of the strike with himself. He smashed the ball into the stands with regularity and brought his half century. Sam Elliot did his job by giving the Kiwi the strike. However, because of the middle order collapse, the required rate shot up big time forcing Seifert to throw his hands at everything.

That resulted in his wicket as he was dismissed for 66. That ended a 60 runs stand as well and the score stood at 142/6. Eventually the innings was wrapped up for 169/7, and the Scorchers registered a massive 50 runs win. The pick of the bowlers for the Scorchers were Cooper Connolly (2-23) and Mahli Beardman (2-30).
