Milestone
India’s eight-match winning streak against New Zealand has finally come to an end. It was a run chase of the highest quality from the Kiwis, carried out with great composure and class. Will Young and Daryl Mitchell delivered outstanding batting performances under testing conditions, with Mitchell once again highlighting his love affair with India by registering his third hundred in his last six ODIs against the Men in Blue. India will be disappointed with their fielding, which was well below par on the day and proved to be a costly factor.

The series now moves to a decider, with the third and final ODI scheduled to be played on Sunday in Indore. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh who, along with scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer & statistician Aman brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπŸ‘‹

Daryl Mitchell Talking to the Presenter

Murali Karthik:
"How satisfying is it that your performance against India has resulted in a win?"

Daryl Mitchell (POTM): "Yeah, look, it is nice to get a win. We haven't won here in a couple of years now. Nice for a younger group, to know that you can challenge the best in the world."

Karthik: You seem to be in a purple patch against India. Will Young was struggling earlier, but after you joined him, he looked settled. What did you say to him?

Mitchell: "I am just enjoying doing my job for my country. I love playing for New Zealand. Any time you get the chance to represent Silver Ferns is pretty cool. Look, Young is a class player. I love batting with him. We have fun but we also enjoy getting into the contest. So, I thought the way he went about his business against the seam up top early, and then he enjoyed spinners. He used all his options and it was nice to get a big partnership."

Karthik: "Was your assault on Kuldeep Yadav pre-conceived?"

Mitchell: Look, he's one of the best bowlers in the world. He can turn it both ways and he has got amazing skills. I knew he is going to be a massive bowler for them, I guess trying to find a way. It's about reading situations.

Murali: "How satisfying was it to be there at the end and finish the game?"

Mitchell: "It is my job to fiund ways to put pressure on them. Once you get in, you have to take it to the end."

Michael Bracewell Talking to the Presenter:

Murali Karthik:
"Congratulations on a great effort in the field and with the bat. What did you say at the halfway stage, considering India also wanted to bat first?"

Michael Bracewell: "Yeah, thank you. It was a pretty complete performance from us and I am very proud of the efforts from the boys. We were very happy at the halfway stage of the game. We bowled really well. It was a typical Kiwi performance with the ball. We were happy to chase anything really.

Murali: "How was the feeling inside the dugout, especially in the first 10 overs when India started strongly?"

Bracewell: "They bowled really well. I think the way the guys soaked up the pressure out there and dealt with the situation was just outstanding. They applied the pressure later on was brilliant. Youngy (Will Young) and Daryl just took the game away from India."

Murali: "Was there a pre-plan to attack Kuldeep Yadav?"

Bracewell: "We just backed the guys go out there, read the game and just play your natural game. That's what they did to be honest. That was something that we spoke about. We adapted quickly and paced the innings really well."

Murali: "How impressed were you with your debutant, Jayden Lennox?"

Bracewell: "Yeah, Jayden bowled beautifully. It's never easy bowling here, especially on Debut and even harder when you are asked to bowl in the powerplay. It looked like he played many games."

Shubman Gill Talking to the Presenter:

Murali Karthik: "Shubman, tough luck. Good game. What is your immediate reflection on this match?"

Shubman Gill: "I think we could not pick any wickets in the middle overs. If you don't take wickets in the middle overs with 5 fielders inside the circle. It becomes difficult to defend a target."

Murali: "While you were batting with Virat, it looked good, but suddenly it became hard to score runs. What changed?"

Gill: "Honestly, on these wickets. As soon as you have a partnership, the set batters have to make it big. It is difficult for the batters coming in to score freely. But, I think in the end, we thought we did get a decent target on the board. We bowled well in the first 10 overs, we tried to squeeze them under pressure but they batted well under pressure."

Murali: "What did you make of the overall conditions? And what about the fielding? There were a few lapses today."

Gill: "I think, in the first 10-15 overs, the ball was doing a bit. After 20-25 overs, the wicket settled in a little. I think we could have been braver in the middle overs and taken a bit more chances. I think, even in the last game we let a few chances go. That's the thing with this team, we are always trying to get better. Fielding is one thing where we try to get better. Yes, if you don't take your chances in this format, it always makes you pay."
