10:22 PM IST, 5:52 PM Local Time: That's it. Hampshire defeat Sussex convincingly at The Rose Bowl to make it a hat-trick of wins in T20 Blast 2025. An all-around effort from them and they have grabbed crucial points by winning this fixture. Sussex have been outplayed tonight and have suffered their fourth straight loss.
Chasing 168, Hampshire's skipper James Vince came out all guns blazing. He played some scintillating strokes and made full use of the fielding restrictions. His opening partner Toby Albert scored 17 before departing in the fifth over. Tom Prest was also sent packing cheaply on six but there was no stopping Vince as he raced past his fifty in just 19 balls.
Vince received an excellent support from Joe Weatherley as both batted Sussex out of the game. Weatherley scored 43 off 29 before holing out in the deep. Hilton Cartwright fell on two but Vince made sure that he stayed till the end and wrapped up the chase. Vince hit 12 fours and 3 maximums to remain unbeaten on 98 off 49 to help his side get across the line in 17.2 overs with six wickets in hand.
Earlier, Sussex opted to bat first and got off to a solid start. Daniel Hughes scored 20-ball 27 before falling in the last over of the powerplay. George Thomas was joined by Tom Clark as both built a very good partnership for the second wicket. They kept Hampshire at bay post the powerplay. Thomas and Clark put 63 between them before falling on 37 and 39 respectively in the 13th over.
Hampshire pulled back things as the death overs approached. They bowled beautifully and picked up regular wickets in the remaining phase of the innings to restrict Sussex to 167/6 at the end of 20 overs. James Fuller (3/16), Chris Wood (2/29) and Scott Currie (2/29) were the wicket-takers for Hampshire. Vince then led from the front in the chase and took his side across the line in the 18th over.
