Tom Curran: "Unbelievable game and glad to be on the right side of it. Watching a fantastic knock from Dan. Great to bat with him and he came in at a tough position, it was a world class innings.
We still had a lot of time to bat and he was going nicely, I just tried to stay with him and provide support. We were trying to keep the rate high without taking much risks. I was saying let's get back at a couple of their bowlers but it is a great place to bat and it is nice to get the job done.
We have felt good all years, gathering small wins and hoping that we peak at the right time. The crowd here never disappoints, great to get the win in front of our home fans."
2:09 AM IST, 9:39 PM Local Time | It was brutal, it was clinical but Surrey have pulled off a monstrous chase here! They defeat a shell-shocked Glamorgan by 6 wickets to chase down 223 with 5 balls to spare!
Glamorgan won the toss and elected to bat first, and on the back of 105 run partnership between Colin Ingram (69) and Asa Tribe (56)*, they were able to establish a big score of 222/6 at the end of their 20 overs.
For Surrey, Sam Curran and Adam Zampa picked up a couple of wickets each but could not stop the scoreboard from racing over!
Come the chase, it was a nightmare start for Surrey, as Ned Leronard and Imad Wasim combined to reduce Surrey's score to 16/3 early in the powerplay and leave them hurting with a mountain of workload ahead.
However, fortunes were about to change for Surrey as Dan Lawrence's arrival shifted the momentum back in their favor. The centurion built two crucial partnerships, first with Will Jacks (31) worth 62 runs for the 4th wicket, and then the match-winning partnership with Tom Curran worth 146 runs for the 5th wicket!
Eventually, Dan Lawrence hit a MAXIMUM to win the contest for his team with an unbeaten 120 runs off 54 balls and Tom Curran missed out on his half-century for a solitary run with an unbeaten score of 49 runs off 27 balls!
For Glamorgan, there was nothing much to write with the ball as Ned Leonard picked up 2/38 and Imad Wasim picked up a solitary wicket but there was no stopping Dan Lawrence to snatch away the victory!
Surrey strengthen their position at no. 2 in the points table with this stunning victory!
