00:38 AM IST and 8:08 PM Local Time: Hampshire Hawks douse Middlesex and come on top in this closely-fought contest. James Fuller's brilliant mix of brain and brawl outshines the hosts in their backyard.
Chasing an 188-run target, Tob Albert and James Vince gave a brisk start inside the powerplay before Luke Hollman and Tom Prest enforced a couple of bowls inside the powerplay. Toby looked in the game but fell after the field restrictions were lifted. The chasing side struggled to build a partnership in the middle overs phase as they were 127/5 in 14 overs.
Joe Weatherly's 22-ball 41 and Hilton Cartwright's 20 made way for James Fuller, who had nerves of steel to ease the job for the Hawks. Benny Howell and Liam Dawson, the two capable batters, sent Fuller against the wall by throwing their wickets in the slog overs phase. But it was Fuller's quickfire that curtailed the equation from 35 off 18 balls to 10 off six balls. Eventually, a couple of fours in the third and fourth ball of the final over served as the icing on the cake.
Earlier, the decision to field first during the toss backfired for the Hampshire side when Kane Williamson and Stephen Eskinazi consolidated 64 runs inside the powerplay. Although Williamson was cleaned by the smart operator Benny Howell, Eskinazi was well succoured by Max Holden for the second-wicket. The pair steered the side past the 150-rub mark, going at almost ten runs per over, before the skipper fell six runs shy of a century.
The decision to bring back Scott Currie paid dividends as he bagged a couple of wickets in the 16th and 18th over to enforce further dents in the Middlesex batting order. Eddie Jack and Sonny Baker chipped in with handy contributions to check the hosts to 187/8 in 20 overs.

4 FOURRR MORE!! James Fuller finishes in style! He wins it for his side with consecutive boundaries. Hampshire win by 3 wickets remaining. Higgins bowls a low full toss on the pads, Fuller whips it firmly past deep square leg for a four.
A sigh of relief for Hampshire Hawks. This brings down the equation to four needed off the last three balls.
19.3 R Higgins to J Fuller
4 FOURRR!!! 4 more runs needed in 3 balls! Too full delivery on middle, Fuller stays deep and whacks it past deep mid wicket for a four.
19.2 R Higgins to E Jack
1 Bowls it too full outside off, Jack drills it past the bowler for a single again. 8 runs needed now!
19.1 R Higgins to J Fuller
1 Single to start the final over. Higgins bowls it too full on middle, Fuller hits to long-on for one. 9 required off 5 balls!
We are down to the final over in this cliffhanger. 10 required off the last six. Three wickets in hand. James Fuller is on strike. Game on!!!🔥
