A strong comeback from Bangladesh, bouncing back from a defeat in the opening game to win two consecutive matches and seal the series 2-1. This marks their first-ever white-ball series victory over Sri Lanka. Time to wrap up this coverage. For now, it's me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of co-commentator Arijit Kundu, scorer/analyst Raju Khariya and statistician Aman. CHEERS!
Deepak: Bangladesh have now won two away T20I series under the leadership of Litton Das β the only captain to achieve this milestone for Bangladesh. The first came against the West Indies in the 2024/25 season, where Bangladesh clean-swept the hosts in a three-match series. The second came in this series against Sri Lanka, where they outclassed the hosts 2-1.
Litton Das collects the series trophy and joins his teammates for the celebration and photoshoots.
Litton Das (Bangladesh Captain and Player of the series): "I can't express myself in words at the moment! The boys showed great character to bounce back after the first loss. I definitely would have batted first β here in Colombo, itβs simple: you bat first. But we have a strong bowling attack that can make it count, and overall, we were pretty impressive tonight. As for picking Mahedi Hasan over Mehidy Hasan Miraz, it wasnβt a tough call. It was purely based on the surface. Itβs not that Mehidy is a bad bowler, but the conditions suited Mahedi more."
Player of the series: Litton Das
Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain): "(On his decision to bat first) My thinking was actually to put up a good score and defend, but I think I misread the pitch. The ball gripped better in the first half. We could have batted better by taking more responsibility.
At the moment, this is the best combination we have. We trusted them, and we know how much improvement we need before the World Cup. It's a huge disappointment to lose the series, but it's a sport, and it can happen. We'll try to make a comeback."
Mahedi Hasan (POTM): "I was aware that the pitches in Sri Lanka offered turn in the last two games, so I focused on maintaining consistent lines and lengths. The new ball was gripping a bit, so I aimed to hit the right areas, and thankfully, it paid off."
Player of the Match: Mahedi Hasan
Time for the post-match presentation....
