1 run vs Barbados Tridents, Bridgetown, 2019

Jason Holder (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Captain): "Yeah, it was a tight game. We have had a few calls this season. It was important to show composure and get over the line. Credit to the bowlers it was an outstanding effort to defend that total on this surface.  I think it was a challenging total on this surface but credit to them.

I was just keen to understand the match-ups and mix it up as much as possible. Spinners were key today. Each spinner I bowled today, they did an outstanding job. Ashmead Nedd bowled well in and outside the powerplay.

Young Bidaisee did well and Waqar Salamkheil was brilliant for us once again. In the penultimate over for me, it was just about nailing the few balls. I feel I did just enough to give Naseem some cushion for the final over.

Yeah, it means a lot. We are still in the competition. By a very slim margin but we have a lot to play for. People of St Kitts deserve a lot better and they know it is our thing to finish better and finish as a better unit. This season is still not over and we are just going to look to finish well against Barbados."
Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "It is quite a poor performance from us. We can take 150 any day especially when the conditions were in favour of batting. (Mohammad) Rizwan showed how to bat through the innings. Need to appreciate the opposition as well, maybe they were more hungry than us.

Those weren't easy conditions for spinners. I tried to squeeze as many overs as possible. As I said 150 is chaseable and we have done it many times before. We have been losing wickets up front throughout the competition and that is where we have to improve."
Mohammad Rizwan (POTM): "Honestly, if you ask me at the halfway mark, when I went back to the pavilion. Rossouw asked me whether it is a par score, I said no. We are 10 runs behind because dew will come. You must give credit to our bowlers. It was an outstanding bowling effort.

In T20 in the Caribbean, you cannot play modern day cricket. Pitches are difficult to bat here. Sometimes, it looks ugly. If you lose three wickets in the powerplay, it is easy to lose more. After powerplay, I started to build my innings. I still feel we were 10 runs behind but the bowlers did an amazing job.

Yeah, I prefer to open but it is not in my hand. It is the call of coach and captain. I am always available. In franchise cricket, you play with overseas players so team combination plays a huge role, I am always available for the team."
Player of the Match: Mohammad Rizwan

09:23 AM IST, 11:53 PM Local Time: What a quality final over under pressure from Naseem Shah as the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots sneak a 5-run win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors. This is the first time the Patriots have got the better of the Warriors while they also stay alive in terms of play-off qualification with this victory.

Chasing 150 for victory, the Warriors’ opening pair of Ben McDermott and Moeen Ali weren’t able to get away as Jason Holder and Ashmead Nedd bowled disciplined line and lengths.  The pressure eventually paid off with Waqar Salamkheil bowling Moeen with a googly in the final over of the Powerplay.

As soon as the Powerplay ended, both the Warriors’ openers were back in the hut as Ashmead Nedd had McDermott for 21 off 18 balls. Three overs later, Shimron Hetmyer disappointed the home crowd as he dragged on a length delivery onto the leg-stump off Naseem Shah’s bowling. Shai Hope held the innings at one end but with Hassan Khan also falling cheaply in the 13th over off Dominic Drakes’ bowling.

The key moment in the chase came in the next over though when Navin Bidaisee got a googly to stay low and crash onto the stumps to get the better of the well-settled Shai Hope. The home crowd would have expected another fiery knock from Dwaine Pretorius but the all-rounder couldn't produce tonight as he top-edged an attempted slog-sweep off Waqar to walk back to the hut. Waqar could have had back-to-back wickets to get rid of the dangerous Romario Shepherd but the Patriots opted against a caught-behind review.

With 33 required off 18 balls, the Warriors would have still backed themselves especially with Shepherd out in the middle. Yet, Naseem delivered a superb 7-run over to increase the pressure on the chasing side. Then,  Patriots' skipper Holder got rid of Shepherd to put his team ahead before Quentin Sampson struck 10 runs off his first 3 balls to tilt the scale towards the Warriors again. Needing 11 off the last 6 balls, the Warriors lost Keemo Paul off the very first ball while Naseem didn't give anything away even after that as Sampson could only only manage a couple of doubles to fall short by a margin of 5 runs in the end.

Earlier in the match, the trio of Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd and Hassan Khan all took a wicket apiece in the Powerplay to reduce the Patriots to 26/3 after 4.3 overs. Rilee Rossouw's poor form in this season also continued as he scrambled for 14 off 15 before Shamarh Brooks took a wonderful catch at long-off with Motie getting his second scalp.

Mohammad Rizwan still continued to play a lone hand as he registered his fifty before accelerating later on. Navin Bidaisee also chipped in with 22 off 21 as Rizwan was run-out for 85 off 62 balls with a couple of balls left in the innings. Eventually, the Patriots ended up 149/6 which turned out to be just enough to defend.

0 Naseem Shah nails the yorker to give the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots a lifeline in CPL 2025!!! Full and tailing in at the leg stump. Sampson clears his front leg and looks to smash it down the ground but fails to get under it, gets an inside back onto his pads and the ball rolls on the off side.
