That's it from all of us! It was a statement win from the five-time champions. Mumbai Indians have thrashed the Kolkata Knight Riders in their first home game of the season. This marks MI's 10th win against the Knights at the iconic Wankhede Stadium! Ashwani Kumar stole the show with the ball, while Ryan Rickelton dazzled with the bat. And to top it off, SKY entertained with his trademark supla shots to seal the victory for the Paltans! Do join us tomorrow at 6:30 PM IST & Local Time as the Lucknow Super Giants host the Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide & Ajay Pal Singh who, along with scorers/analysts Paras Yadav and Manish Bishnoi and statistician Aman brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
FUN FACT: Ashwani Kumar is just the third Indian pacer after Prasanth Parameswaran (2011) and Mayank Yadav (2024) to bag the player of the match award in his IPL debut.
Ashwani Kumar (POTM): "Yes, it is a big thing for me. I got an opportunity and won POTM in my first outing. I never thought of all this.

I was confident but there were a bit of nerves before I entered the field. I just want to tell them that whatever matches I get going forward, I will try and make everyone back home proud and win it for Mumbai Indians."
Player of the Match: Ashwani Kumar
Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Captain): "Very satisfying. To win, especially at home, it's great. We chipped in and with the way everyone contributed, it was satisfying.

It's always a challenge of picking one guy here or there. Our team has a lot of experience. This wicket offered more and I thought we will bring in Ashwani and he was brilliant with the ball.

It's all about scouts. All MI scouts have gone all over the places and picked up the players. We played the practice match. He got some extra swing and was a leftie. With the options he has, we backed him and could also bowl in the death overs. He picked the wicket of Russell and it was a big wicket. Also, he started well by taking the catch of Quinton. It's always good to see the pacers jump around and take catches.

If it goes my way, it looks good. With the team we have, we have a good mix of young and experienced players. It's good to see when the young players grab the opportunity.

It's still an early start. But it's a great sign to chip in and come into the party and get some confidence and kick off the tournament for us. It was a good win."
Most Dot balls in the Match: Trent Boult (14 dots)
