With a purposeful performance on a belter of a wicket, Oval Invincibles Women have clinched their first win of the season. Now the spotlight will move onto their men's team, who have been steamrolling every opposition in their path thus far. Plus the surface on offer today, will make up for a mouthwatering clash. It's coming up next β€” Birmingham Phoenix (men) vs Oval Invincibles (men). Switch tabs to tune into that game.

From here, it is the troika of Darpan Tikiya, Arijit Kundu and Paras Yadav signing off.

Alice Capsey (Player of the Match): "Yeah it's nice. It's nice to get a big one. We have come on the back of two losses -- both were close ones. One of our reflections from the last match is that we bat so deep that we can take more risks.

Two of the names in our dressing room, they're big names- Marizanne Kapp and Meg Lanning. It was all about playing our game and maintain pressure on the opponent.

It is known for grip and turn in Edgbaston, but it came off pretty nice today. Yeah, it was about keeping things simple and anything short, to pounce on."

10:10 PM IST, 5:40 PM local time: Oval Invincibles win by 22 runs and notch up the first 'W' against their name on the points table.

This victory will warm the hearts of the Invincibles fans. Thus far in the season, they have seen their men's team steamroll their opponents and the women's team fall short every time they have turned up. But tonight the ladies flipped the script and finally secured their first points. However, more than the result, it is the manner in which they played today.

The purposefulness was visible from the offset. Openers Lanning and Winfield-Hill got them off to a galloping start. Yes, they were helped by some loose bowling from the home team. However, the intent was unquestionable.

Even when the opening stand was broken, there was no drop in intensity. Alice Capsey took over and scored an exuberant half-century. Unlike previously in the tournament, today she was not afraid to manufacture some imaginative strokes. Her reverse sweeps and scoops were as robust as they can get. All of it seemed to have rubbed onto young Paige Scholfield, who notched up an effervescent 16-ball-25 to help the Invincibles notch up a mammoth 174/5. With 2/24 to her name, Hannah Baker was the pick of the home side's bowlers.

The Phoenix came out swinging. Voll showed good early omens but ended up pulling a short ball from Kapp straight down the throat of short fine leg. After that, Winfield-Hill kept Kapp on and made her bowl out well before the death. While Kapp did not get another wicket, she kept the pressure on.

Then, Amanda-Jade Wellington's delightful leg spin took centre stage. She deceived batters with in flight and off the pitch alike and ended with 2/27 to her name. Ellyse Perry and Ailsa Lister scored at a brisk pace but couldn't get enough to get near the finish line.

Some fielding lapses towards the end was the only blemish on this otherwise shinning performance from the Invincibles.

4 FOUR AGAIN! Short and wide outside the off. Kalis rocks back and across to time the cut stroke perfectly towards deep backward point. Two fielders from the square of the wicket chase it down, but the effort goes in vain as the outfield wins the race. Oval Invincibles continue their domination over the Birmingham Phoenix in the Women's Hundred with six straight wins in all of their encounters.

4 Its a shame that the Kalis gets to play only a couple of balls today. She starts her innings with a four. Length and wide outside the off. Kalis makes room and throws the kitchen sink at it. She cuts it nice and in the gap to earn a four between point and backward point.
