Phew! What a finish at the iconic Trent Bridge. The Rockets kept their nerve and sealed the win with just one ball to spare. That sets up a mouth-watering Eliminator on Saturday at the Kennington Oval, where the Rockets will face the Northern Superchargers for a place in the final. The Oval Invincibles, meanwhile, can sit back and wait to see who their opponent will be on Sunday. Up next, the final league game of the season tomorrow — Southern Brave vs Welsh Fire — a dead rubber to round off the group stage.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Darpan Tikiya who, along with scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋

Rehan Ahmed (Player of the Match): "There was a lot of assistance for spin on the pitch. We train on similar surfaces, so it was about going out there and doing the same things.
We (him and Joe Root) did not talk much out there. Just kept going. Coxy (Ben Cox) was always going to do it. We had the confidence in him."

1:39 AM IST & 9:09 PM Local Time: What a finish! A gripping low-scoring contest at Trent Bridge ends with the hosts clinching a win and sealing 2nd spot on the table. They now gear up to face the Northern Superchargers in the Eliminator, while for Birmingham Phoenix, this marks the end of their campaign.
Earlier in the day, the Rockets won the toss and put Phoenix in to bat on a sluggish Trent Bridge surface. The visitors began well with Will Smeed and Ben Duckett providing a solid start inside the powerplay. However, Duckett’s lean patch with the bat continued as he struggled for timing before falling for 20 off 15 in the final set of the powerplay. After the 36-run opening stand, Phoenix couldn’t build any meaningful partnerships, with no stand going beyond 19 runs.
After the powerplay, the Rockets turned to spin from both ends and immediately put the brakes on the scoring. The Phoenix struggled to build partnerships as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Dan Mousley tried to anchor the innings with 26 off 25 but received no real support. A late cameo from Trent Boult at No.10, where he struck a couple of boundaries, pushed them past the 100-run mark. In the end, Birmingham Phoenix could only manage 111/9. Rehan Ahmed was the standout performer with the ball, returning excellent figures of 3/15.
Chasing 112, the Rockets were jolted early as Trent Boult struck in his second set to dismiss Tom Banton for just 1. Joe Root then joined forces with Rehan Ahmed, and together they stitched a vital 64-run partnership that seemed to put the Rockets in complete control. But just when the chase looked all too easy, the Phoenix hit back hard. A sudden collapse saw the Rockets slide from 66/1 to 77/5 in no time. Rehan Ahmed’s fluent 37 came to an end, and Joe Root too fell soon after for 25, leaving the game wide open.
The game went right down to the wire at Trent Bridge! The tension was palpable as Liam Livingstone shuffled his bowlers smartly, making life tough for the Rockets. Sam Hain and Ben Cox kept the chase alive with sharp running, but Hain’s attempt for a big shot in the penultimate set saw him caught in the deep for 11 off 10. That left Jacob Bethell with 6 to defend in the final set. He stretched it to the penultimate ball, but Ben Cox kept his composure, striking the winning boundary to remain unbeaten on 17 off 10.A thrilling finish to cap off a dramatic contest as the Rockets win by 3 wickets!
