4:44 PM: The defending champions of the Vijay Hazare Trophy continue to live in the tournament winning their 6th game on te trot after sending Bengal packing with a 72-run win at Vadodara.
Bengal won the toss and put Haryana in to bat first. The defending champions scored a strong 298/9 on the back of a combined batting performance in which Nishant Sindhu and Parth Vats starred with the bat before coming back big with the ball as well.
Bengal started the chase well with openers Sudip Kumar Gharami (36 off 39) and Abishek Porel (57 off 78) adding 70 runs for the first wicket. Abhimanyu Easwaran on his return to the domestic circuit failed and added just 10 runs.
Anustup Majumdar joined Porel as the left hander moved to his half century adding 59 runs for the 3rd wicket. From 147/2, the Haryana bowlers made a quick comeback dismissing Porel and then Majumdar in quick interval with Parth Vats (3/33) and Nishant Sindhu (2/36) sharing 5 wickets between them.
Sudip Chatterjee retired hurt struggling with cramps and returned later to face just a couple of balls more before he was dismissed by Anshul Kamboj (2/25 in 7.1). Only Karan Lal (28 off 30) got a start in the lower middle order with the Bengal side surrendering against the Haryana bowling attack after losing their top order.
As a result, Haryana remains in the competition moving to the quarter finals and Bengal will go back home to prepare for the remainder of the Ranji Trophy.
