10:29 PM IST and Local Time | Hambantota Bangla Tigers have become the second finalist of the inaugural edition of Lanka T10 defeating Galle Marvels by 4 wickets and with 3 overs remaining in the run chase. They will face Jaffna Titans in the summit clash.
Earlier in the match, Galle Marvels was sent to bat first but they lost Sandun Weerakkody in the first over who got out after hitting a maximum. Bhanuka Rajapaksa was the batter to watch out for but he got out for golden duck and the Marvels were in trouble. Lahiru Udara started well but he got out for 12. Shakib Al Hasan also got two boundaries but didn't sustain. He also got out for 12. Marvels were reduced to 61 for 8.
They came back in the game as Movin Subasingha added some useful runs to the total. He and Prabath Jayasuriya added a crucial partnership for the 9th wicket. Subasingha swung his bat to add 32 off 14 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours.
For Hambantota Bangla Tigers, Eshan Malinga bowled a dream spell taking 3 wickets for 10 runs from his 2 overs. Dhananjaya Lakshan, Tharindu Ratnayake and Isuru Udana took two wickets each.
In pursuit of the 91-run target, Bangla Tigers were in trouble losing their impact substitute Mohammad Shahzad for a silver duck and Sabbir Rahman for a golden duck in the first over bowled by Theekshana. But Kusal Perera took on Luke Wood to bolster the run rate in the next over. Kusal got out for 22 as Lahiru Udara stumped him out with some extraordinary reflex but Dasun Shanaka didn't let the pressure fall on his team. Shanaka scored 20 runs facing just 8 balls to help his team.
Shevon Daniel took on his positive match-up Prabath Jayasuriya to take 24 runs from the first 5 balls of the latter's over but perished in the last ball scoring a fine 36 off 17 balls. In the late stage of the game, a few wickets fell but Hambantota-based franchise got the victory easily.
Maheesh Theekshana took 3 wickets and bowled a captain's spell but his efforts were not enough. Zahoor Khan scalped 2 wickets late in the run chase.
