Rovman Powell (Delhi Bulls Captain): "You need to peak and get the momentum at the back end of the tournament. Our bowling has been the strength throughout the tournament."
Fazalhaq Farooqi (Player of the Match): "This match was very crucial including the remaining ones. I loved the first wicket as he was the main batter. I like this short format, every bowler likes a shorter format. I try to execute slower ones and yorkers."
Player of the Match: Fazalhaq Farooqi
6:52 PM IST, 5:22 PM Local Time: The Delhi Bulls romp on to a 5-wicket win over Kieron Pollard led New York Strikers in the 29th match of the Abu Dhabi T10 competition.
Delhi Bulls won the toss and elected to bowl first. Strikers were off to a rapid start adding 32 runs in the first 2 overs losing just 1 wicket but the Bulls bowlers fought back. Sam Cook (3/18) and Fazalhaq Farooqi (3/19) doing a terrific job to restrict the total to 83/9.
The English opening duo for the Bulls, James Vince (30 off 15) and Tom Banton (16 off 10) got a flying start adding 44 in 3.4 overs for the first wicket. Rovman Powell at number 3 scored 10 in 7 balls but was sent back by Akeal Hosein in the floating powerplay.
Tim David hit 21 in 14 balls taking the Bulls closer to the victory but an over of off spin from Kieron Pollard made the game interesting. With just 3 needed in the penultimate over, Pollard dismissed David, conceded a single and witnessed a run out before bowling another dot and conceding the winning boundary on the final ball of his over.
Khuzaima Bin Tanvir bowled a terrific spell of 1/13 removing Vince with a searing yorker. Pollard conceded just 5 runs in his single over of off break bowling, Matheesha Pathirana removed Banton and conceded 17 in his 2 overs.
Stay tuned for the post match presentation.
