10:44 PM IST, 9:14 PM Local Time | Well that's it from this match folks! Join us back tomorrow as we bring you the LIVE cricketing action from all around the world! Until then, this is Anirudh Modi, signing off along with my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Aditya Agarwal, and our scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar! See you on the next one!
Dushan Hemantha (Player of the Match): "I am very happy about my bowling and happy to contribute to the team's win and look forward to the semis. I think I kept it simple and bowled according to the game plans and executed it well. I bowled straight wicket to wicket and got my success in the end. Happy to contribute to the team. Hope to do well and keep the basics right in the knockout stages."
Player of the Match: Dushan Hemantha.
Nuwanidu Fernando ( Sri Lanka A Captain) - "Yeah, we knew it was hard and tough game. I think 160 was a good score on the board. Our batters started well as Udara gave us a quick start. Our bowlers Eshan Malinga and Hemantha bowled well today. I wanted to thank to all of our fans who came forward for our support."
Akbar Ali (Bangladesh A Captain): "At the half way mark it was a gettable target and the way we opened, after that we let ourselves down. We made some bad shot selections, the way openers played, we needed to carry that on but we failed. We just need to learn to hold our nerve and there is some room for improvement in our middle order."
Time for the presentations.
10:30 PM IST, 9:00 PM Local Time | Sri Lanka A win the virtual knockout of Group A and qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament! They defeat a disappointed Bangladesh A by 19 runs to go top of the table via NRR! Sri Lanka A won the toss and elected to bat first, and their decision was vindicated when their top 5 batters all scored in double digits to help their team to an above par score of 161/7 at the end of their 20 overs. Pavan Rathnayake was their top scorer with a blistering 42 runs off 26 balls. While, Rahman Raja and Ripon Mondol picked up 2 wickets a piece for Bangladesh A. Come the chase, Bangladesh A got off to a flier thanks to their openers who smacked the Sri Lanka A bowlers all around the park to register 59/2 at the end of the first 6 overs. However, after Saif Hassan's unfortunate departure due to injury, Bangladesh A lost the plot. The following batters crumbled under the scoreboard pressure and thanks to some brilliant bowling and catching by the Lankans, the wickets started falling at regular intervals. There was a slight spark in the end by Abu Hider, with unbeaten 38 runs off 25 balls but it was not enough to get his team over the line and into the knockouts. Dushan Hemantha was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka A with the figures of 3/23 from his 4 overs. However, Sri Lanka A's victory was not without controversy as on the first ball of the 18th over, Abu Hider hit a towering MAXIMUM over extra cover but the umpire called a dead ball! Post that, Abu Hider was rattled and lost his timing and shape. One can only wonder if he would have been able to take his team over the line if that sixer stood! Bangladesh A will depart the tournament disappointed as they had the perfect opportunity to qualify today. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka A march on with a confidence boosting victory and will look to repeat this performance in the knockout stages to win the Emerging Cup!
