That's all we have from the coverage of this Match No. 18 of the Super Smash 2024-2025 between Otago Volts and Wellington Firebirds.
This is me, Hiren Kumar signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Arjun Bhalla alongside scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur who brought you all actions of the event. BYE, CHEERS!!
Ben Sears (Player of the Match): It's a good win after losing a couple of last games. We haven't played that many games so far, but hopefully, we will build some momentum. They have a dangerous batting lineup; anyone can hit for a six, but I am grateful that we got over the line. We have a solid batting order. (Nick) Kelly is brilliant and Tim (Robinson) was with runs again. Hopefully, we will build on momentum after this game. Cheers!"

Time for the post-match presentation!
10:07 AM IST & 5:37 PM Local Time | ALL OVER! Wellington win by 33 runs. They register their 2nd win of the season. A much needed victory for them. A clinical performance with both bat and ball for them.
So, here is how the game panned out.
Opting to bat first, the Wellington Firebirds were top notch from the start and kept scoring at a brisk pace. Skipper Nick Kelly was the pick of the batters for them and scored 57 off just 32 balls. Tim Robinson struggled initially but was good in the later half of the innings and scored 76* off 58 balls. Michael Bracewell was also impressive lower down the order and played a quick cameo off 20 in just 8 balls which helped his side cross the 180-mark.
With the ball, the Volts would be not be happy with their performance. They failed to pick up wickets at regular intervals and leaked too many in the end. Ben Lockrose and Glenn Phillips bowled decently and picked up a wicket each to their name.
Coming to the chase, the Firebirds continued their momentum with the ball and were excellent with the new ball. They picked up 2 early wickets inside the powerplay. Ben Sears was the pick of the bowlers for them and ended his spell with the figures of 4/29 in his 4 overs. Logan Van Beek was also good and picked up 2 wickets to his name and bowled out the Volts for 153.
With the bat, the Volts' batters did get starts but failed to capitalize on it and kept losing wickets in the middle overs. Glenn Phillips was the lone warrior for them and scored 49 off just 32 balls and took the game deep. Stay tuned for the presentations.
