That brings us to the end of our coverage for this match. It is time for the troika of Darpan Tikiya, Hiren and Bishal Mandal to sign off. Keep following Crex for more cricketing action from around the world. Sayonara!

In a T20 tournament, where 'momentum' is touted to be a crucial thing, such defeats can change the complexion of the entire campaign. Central Stags will have to put this one behind them and start afresh in their next match. Meanwhile, the Volts would be on cloud nine after this thumping victory. But remember, there is still a long way to go. We are not even half way through the tournament yet. With five games each remaining for both the teams in the league stage. There is plenty more still to be done. In case you missed the action, scroll below to read the summary of the match.
Luke Georgeson (Otago Volts Captain): "Very happy with the win. The pitch was a good one to bat on but credit to our spinners who pulled the game back for us and restricted them to a total like that. Brilliant from the batters as well to chase it down quickly. CHEERS!"
Tom Bruce (Central Stags Captain): " Can't blame anyone expect ourselves. The pitch was great and I thought 200 would be a good total here. The way Dale and Jamal batted was brilliant and killed the game in the powerplay. Unfortunate for the crowd, as we could not put up a show here. Thank you."
Jamal Todd (Game Changer of the Match): "Pretty happy with my performance. It was a simple plan for me. See ball hit ball. That was a hell of a watch (on Dale Phillips). He batted brilliantly and took a lot of pressure off me. Thank you."

11:30 AM IST, 7:00 PM LOCAL TIME | Otago Volts win by 8 wickets and climb to the apex spot of the points table.

There are one-sided wins and there is that. The Otago Volts have absolutely steamrolled the opposition. The drowning sun and the fading light in Palmerston embody the current mood of the Central Stags camp.

They were under the pump early. Put into bat in what were bowling friendly conditions, they lost a couple of early wickets as the batters went for expansive shots away from the body and got undone by the swinging ball. Following that Tom Bruce and Jack Boyle did stitch together a partnership which delineated a semblance of recovery. But the innings went nowhere post the dismissal of the skipper. The Volts bowled tight lines and lengths and did not let the lower order get away with easy runs. The home team went 50 balls without a boundary at one stage and ended up with a meagre looking 133/6 in 20 overs.

The score seemed under-par but it was enough for the Stags to muster up a fight with the ball. However, their spirits were deflated within the first over itself. Brett Randell started off with five wides and then was taken to the cleaners by Dale Phillips. The latter hit 35 off 19 balls laying the groundwork for the sucker punch that came later. Jamal Todd's vigorous maiden fifty and an effervescent cameo from Dean Foxcroft took the Volts past the finish line with 62 balls to spare.

With this win, Otago Volts have displaced the Central Stags at the top of the table.

WD ANTI-CLIMATIC! The crowd sighs in unison. That would be the end. Very full, aimed at the tram line outside off. Foxcroft leaves it and the umpire signals a wide.
