Tom Bruce (Central Stags Captain): "Yeah it was sensational to be honest. You want your top order to step up. The batters stepped up and it felt good for me to contribute and finish off the game.
Yeah we spoke on it to be honest. It was a tricky surface but I feel we bowled really well. Got some early wickets which gave us some momentum.
Yeah for sure we will take the positives from this game and hopefully we carry on with the good form."
Max Chu (Otago Volts Captain): "Credit to Brucey and Young for putting that innings together. If you lose 3 wickets in the powerplay, you can't put up a big score but credit to Johnson he was exceptional. We love coming to play here, there's great support always. Few days off and then we face Canterbury."
Tom Bruce (Player of the Match): "Yeah we have been training really well and I just wanted to get out there and enjoy my time at the middle.
Yeah when I walked out to bat, the change was in the balance so we wanted someone to bat till the end. Really pleased to contribute for my team.
Yeah it's a bit sore. Hopefully a bit of ice and I will be fine."
Player of the Match: Tom Bruce
12:03 PM IST & 7:33 PM Local Time| The Central Stags secured a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over the Otago Volts, showcasing their dominance throughout the match and wrapping up the fixture in commanding fashion and with 6 deliveries to spare.
The Otago Volts made an excellent start after being asked to bowl first, with Schaw striking in the very first over to remove Jamal Todd. Blair Tickner then delivered a game-changing over, as he dismissed both skipper Max Chu and opener Dale Phillips in the same over. This early carnage left Otago in dire straits at 14/3, giving the Central Stags a commanding start to the game.
The Otago Volts found some stability through the 4th wicket partnership between Carter and Foxcroft. The duo added a crucial 44 runs, helping to rebuild the innings and inject some much-needed momentum after the early collapse.
The Otago Volts finished their innings strongly, courtesy of a brilliant knock by Llew Johnson (53), who smashed some biggies in the death overs. His effort ensured the Volts posted a competitive total of 154/8 in their 20 overs, giving them a fighting chance in the game.
Blair Tickner (3/37) was the pick of the bowlers for Central Stags. The target for the Central Stags was 155. In reply, the Stags lost an early wicket as Jack Boyle was dismissed for 2.
A game-changing 82-run partnership between Will Young and Curtis Heaphy seemed to be taking the match away from the Otago Volts. However, Ben Lockrose broke the crucial stand. Both set batters were dismissed in quick succession and the Volts found a way back into the contest.
Skipper, Tom Bruce (44*) played a decisive role, ensuring there were no slip-ups in the chase. His quick-fire unbeaten knock guided the Central Stags to victory with an over to spare.
