That’s all from our side, folks! Do switch tabs and join the third match of today’s Zim Afro T10, which is about to start. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Cheers!
Laurie Evans (Bulawayo Brave Jaguars Captain): "Yeah, I’m very happy. We won the game, so it’s nice to get on the board and hand over to our hopefully new captain, David Warner.

(On what went right today) I don’t really have an answer for that. But we won the game of cricket; we scored more runs than them and played well. It’s just a game of T10, and we managed to hit more sixes than they did."
Yasir Shah (Durban Wolves Captain): "I am good. Yes, because wicket was good for batting. Smeed and Chapman played well. 112 was a good score and could have been defended. But we did not finish well and were short of runs."
Nick Hobson (Player of the Match): "Yeah it was really good to get a win, and hopefully that can give us some momentum. It was probably the first opportunity we had to bowl first as well.

I think that helped us settle as a team, as we knew the target we had to chase. We were much better with the bat today; the tempo of our innings was good, and the boys played well throughout, each contributing little cameos. In the end, we got it done."
Player of the Match: Nick Hobson.
Power Hitter of the Match: Will Smeed.
Catch of the Match: Akila Dananjaya.
Magic Moment of the Match: Innocent Kaia.
Time for the presentations.
10:34 PM IST, 7:04 PM Local Time: A swashbuckling knock from Nick Hobson helped the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars chase down 112 runs with three balls to spare, securing their first win in the Zim Afro T10 2024.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, the Durban Wolves posted 112/2 in 10 overs. They lost their openers cheaply, but Will Smeed and Mark Chapman looked in sublime touch and provided the necessary acceleration to the innings. Smeed hammered an unbeaten 55 runs off just 25 balls, while Chapman contributed an unbeaten 38 runs off 22 balls. The duo forged 80* runs for the third wicket, propelling the Wolves’ total over 110 runs. Richard Ngarava and Daryn Dupavillon celebrated a solitary wicket for the Jaguars.

In response to 112 runs,
Wesley Madhavere (9 off 8) and Kirk McKenzie (14 off 11) added 28 runs for the first wicket but both openers departed in two consecutive balls. Kobe Herft (10 off 4) and Anamul Haque (5 off 7) failed to make an impact with the bat, leaving their side in a spot of bother.

Laurie Evans went honkers and bonkers from the outset and added a rapid 26 runs off 9 balls, putting the batting back on track. The equation was reduced to 29 runs off 12 balls and Nick Hobson stole the limelight with a ferocious hitting. The left-hander smashed six consecutive boundary to Dawlat Zadran in the penultimate over and turned the tide of the game. Hobson remained unbeaten on 38 runs off just 13 balls and sealed the game with a six with three balls to spare. Bulawayo Brave Jaguars won by four wickets and grabbed their first points in the ongoing Zim Afro T10.

Muhammad Rohid Khan and Dawlat Zadran bagged a couple of wickets for Durban Wolves, but the latter was very expensive in the process. Mohammad Irfan and Kashif Daud chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Stay tuned for the presentation......
