For now, this is Saipavan Janaki signing off alongside our scorer and analyst, Raju Khariya. Wishing you a wonderful day ahead!
Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain): "Probably a good score, and the bowlers have done really well. Very much positive, and it's good to see these performances from the boys, taking confidence from here.
We experimented with different options, and we need to finalize our top three, but it's great to see the runs coming in. Meanwhile, weāve got plans in place for the playoffs. The bowlers are finding wickets early and keeping the pressure on, while the batting has also been solid. To the fans - thanks for your support at our home ground, and weāll see you next year!"
Bjorn Fortuin (Paarl Royals Captain): "We didnāt do enough to give the other guys opportunities. Miller is good and will be back tomorrow, which is a big boost. Yeah, we were quite good with the ball, and it was good to see their score as chaseable, but unfortunately, we couldnāt get there.
It was tough losing early wickets, and we definitely need someone to step up and take responsibility. We have a couple of days to regroup, so hopefully, weāll come back stronger in the next one. Iāll look to put in a good performance for the fans."
Jordan Hermann (Player of the Match):"Yeah, I had it pretty dark early on, but just found my rhythm and contributed well to the team. Thereās always a chance in this game, and with a few specific changes, I was ready to step up. I just stuck to my role and played my game. This is the best ground in the country, in my opinion. Big thanks to the fans for their incredible support!"
Player of the Match: Jordan Hermann
Catch of the match: Craig Overton
Time for the post match presentations....
07.55 PM IST, 04.25 PM Local Time: Sunrisers Eastern Cape secured a comprehensive 48-run victory over Paarl Royals in the 28th match of the SA20 League 2025. Chasing a target of 149, Paarl Royals faltered under pressure and were bowled out for just 100 runs in 18.2 overs.
The Royals' innings got off to a shaky start as Lhuan-dre Pretorius was the first to depart for just 3 runs in the very first over. Mitchell Owen followed shortly, contributing 7 runs. The collapse continued as Mitchell Van Buuren (1) and Dewan Marais (2) were both dismissed cheaply, leaving the Royals reeling at 13-4 within the first three overs. Rubin Hermann tried to stabilize the innings with a patient 35 off 39 balls, hitting three boundaries and a six, but found little support from the other end. Dunith Wellalage played a brief cameo, scoring 8 runs off 4 balls, including two boundaries, but was soon dismissed by Jansen. The Royals' captain, Bjorn Fortuin, couldn't contribute, falling for a golden duck to Markram. Andile Phehlukwayo added some resistance with a steady 22 off 24 balls, striking two fours and a six. However, once he was trapped lbw by Markram, the lower order couldn't withstand the Sunrisers' relentless bowling attack. Mujeeb Ur Rahman remained unbeaten on 11 from 17 balls, while Eshan Malinga (8) and Lungi Ngidi (3) fell in quick succession to seal the Royals' fate. The Sunrisers' bowlers were exceptional throughout the innings. Craig Overton led the charge with figures of 4-0-15-3, delivering a masterclass in disciplined bowling. Marco Jansen was equally impressive, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in his 4-over spell. Aiden Markram chipped in with 2 crucial wickets, conceding just 15 runs in his 3 overs. Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson also contributed with a wicket each, ensuring the Royals never gained any momentum. Earlier, Sunrisers Eastern Cape set a competitive total of 148/8, with Jordan Hermann leading the charge, scoring a quick-fire 53. Tristan Stubbs was the backbone of the innings, contributing a crucial 43 runs, including three sixes, and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Despite losing wickets regularly, the middle-order rallied with some important contributions, especially from Stubbs and a brief cameo from Liam Dawson. On the bowling side, Mitchell Owen and Eshan Malinga were the standouts, picking up 2 wickets each, while Fortuin and Wellalage made key breakthroughs.
