That’s it from the 2nd ODI between Sri Lanka Women and New Zealand Women. Stay tuned to our network for all the latest cricketing action from around the world, across all formats.

For now, this is Saipavan Janaki, signing off alongside my co-commentators Deepak Prakash, Anirudh Modi, and Karthik Raj, along with our scorer and analyst Ghanendra Singh. Wishing you all a wonderful day ahead!

Suzie Bates (New Zealand Women Captain): "Yes, that was brilliant. The partnerships in our batting were crucial, and Maddy played a key role in taking us to a strong total. The bowlers struck early and picked up important wickets. We need to handle pressure better and prepare well for the India tour, especially working on our spin.

Posting 200 isn’t always enough, so we must focus on finding our best XI for the future. Having a strong bowling unit is essential, and we need to keep improving. Jess Kerr was outstanding, and overall, it was a great team performance today."
Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Women Captain): "New Zealand played good cricket. We bowled really well for the first 35 overs, but lost momentum in the last 15. From a batting perspective, we struggled throughout the game. We'll look to bounce back in the next match. It was a chaseable target, but the key lies in how we start the first 15 overs. We will aim to work on this and come back stronger."
Maddy Green (Player of the Match): "Thanks a lot. It was nice to spend some time in the middle, the last session was tough. We built some good partnerships, which was crucial. Yes, at times, we had to be patient with our shot selection. Overall, it was outstanding to put together those partnerships, and we got the win."

Time for the post-match presentation....
10:18 AM IST, 5:48 PM Local Time: New Zealand Women thumped Sri Lanka Women by 78 runs in the second ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The visitors looked in control at one stage but lost momentum in the latter half, collapsing from 99/2 to 167 all out.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, the White Ferns were rocked hard by the Sri Lankan bowlers as they lost five wickets for just 110 runs inside 30 overs. However, Maddy Green delivered a scintillating knock and smashed a century to steady the ship and put things back on track. The valuable contributions at the tail end from Jess Kerr (38) and Polly Inglis (34) propelled the hosts to post 245/7 in 50 overs.

Chamari Athapaththu bagged a couple of wickets for Sri Lanka Women, while Achini Kulasuriya, Inoshi Priyadharshani, and Kavisha Dilhari shared one wicket each.

In response to 245 runs, Sri Lanka Women lost Vishmi Gunaratne (8) and Chamari Athapaththu (11) cheaply inside the powerplay. Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari started the rescue mission, and the pair added 60+ runs for the third wicket. However, New Zealand Women bowlers removed two wickets —Dilhari (25) and Manudi Nanayakkara (0)—in quick succession and put the visitors on the backfoot again.

Samarawickrama notched up her yet another fifty but failed to convert it into a big score and departed for 59 runs, leaving her side in a spot of bother. Sri Lanka Women lost wickets at regular intervals in the latter half of the innings and were folded for 167 runs in the 47th over.

Hannah Rowe shone with the ball for the hosts, claiming 4 wickets. Bree Illing and Eden Carson chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Suzie Bates contributed one wicket to the downfall.

Stay tuned for the presentation.......
