That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Do join us on Sunday for the second game of the three-match series. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Anirudh Modi and scorer Yogesh Kumar. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
Tahlia McGrath (Australia Women Captain): "Very happy, very clinical from Moons and Volly, our fielding needs to tidy up but couldn't be happier with the result. Initially, at the toss I thought it was a tricky wicket but it was coming on nicely, so we had to adjust and adapt to restrict them to a total.
There are so many options in this squad, I'm spoilt for choice and everyone is just switched on with their plans. To put on a performance like that in her 200th game, she was hitting for fun and she is being doing it for years, I think she flies under the radar but she is just amazing."
Suzie Bates (New Zealand Women Captain): "Yeah, absolutely. Full credit to Australia. They really took us to today. We had a positive start with the bat but they did well to adapt to the conditions and put us under pressure. We thought if we bowled well, we could defend this total. But it wasn't to be. We have to step up in the next game and show some resilience in the next game.
I think from the top, we got to good starts. You have to get 50s and 100s once you get 20s and 30s. We need to talk what we need to do in the middle. You saw it from their openers that if you get a good start in the powerplay, you have to carry on and score big.
It's always nice to have familiar faces and experienced players around. I know we will bounce back in the next game. Nobody will put their hand up and say that they are pleased with today's performance.
Every game in T20s, you have to start again. We will get to the beach tomorrow and get the preparations before Sunday.
We had to make use of that wicket in the second innings. It's a familiar ground and we have quality spin bowlers. Coming from Dubai, we will take confidence from it and look to bounce back in the next game.
The powerplay with the ball, we have to get some clarity on how to bowl against the Australian batters. We also have to get to a decent total to stand any chance of defending it against them. The staff will come in the picture and help us."
Beth Mooney | Player of the Match: "It's been a pretty long summer, but there have been discussions around how we need to bat, and with Georgia at the top, it was easy. If you are on a bit of a roll with the bat, it's hard to stop.
We got 70 odd runs in the powerplay which was outrageous, a couple of dicey moments in the end but we got there. She is a young player, takes everything in her stride and helps me at the other end. I'm glad we have the depth to go out and play like we did. The staff and the girls had a couple of speeches for me in the meeting and so did my family back home.
I'm lucky to be a part of this lineup and get a run of 200 games for the country. It's one of those days, where you get pretty much everything right, the bowlers did a great job, we could have kept them to a bit less but we got them. It was borderline reckless, but I am glad I had the guts to do it."
