What a riveting game of cricket in Melbourne. Brisbane Heat agonisingly walk out of the competition. The Renegades are just hanging in there for now. All the eyes will be on the next game between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers, which is currently going on at the Optus Stadium. Melbourne Stars will host Hobart Hurricanes tomorrow, which will answer on the fourth team qualifying for the playoffs.
For now, this is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi, who brought you all the live-action of this thriller. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
Jake Fraser-McGurk (POTM): "Extremely happy with the win. Happy for the way we turned up today. Hopefully, some results go our way. Everyone has contributed today.
I just wanted to get off to a start and give the bowlers a charge early. Cricket is a game where you can have a terrible day, but you are always just two shots away from turning things around. You can feel terrible, as I said, and then you get two shots away, and you are back.
Hopefully, we can still qualify for the next round; thanks to the fans for turning up today. Hopefully, we can keep performing for them this season."

2:39 PM IST and 8:09 PM Local Time: Fantastic batting display from Melbourne Renegades, especially from Jaker Fraser-McGurk, as the hosts get over the line in a high-scoring thriller at Docklands by just three wickets to knockout Brisbane Heat from the tournament!
The Renegades move to the fourth spot and need other results to go their way to confirm a finish in the top four!
Put into bat first, Brisbane Heat hammered a massive 196/4 in 20 overs. The Gades' pacers didn't get enough help from the surface and the Heat openers - Nathan McSweeney and Jack Wood - gave them a very good start. Wood and Matthew Renshaw then played significant knocks before Callum Stow got rid of both set batters in one over after a successful Power Surge for the visitors. Tom Alsop played a brilliant knock, giving the final flourish to the Heat's innings, helping them to a big total close to 200, getting good help from Daniel Drew and Max Bryant.
As Adam Zampa said in the pre-match interview, the spinners were the only wicket-takers in the first innings, with him and Stow sharing the scalps. Pacers were taken to the cleaners, and the Gades' had to abort Sutherland and O'Neill from bowling, with the umpires banning them for running into the danger zone. Josh Brown had to complete the remaining overs of the seamers and he was very expensive.
Debutant Tawanda Muyeye didn't stick around for long as Michael Neser drew the first blood for the Heat. Josh Brown gave it back to the visitors with a vibrant 11-ball 32 but couldn't go past the powerplay. JFM had to deliver, and he went berserk from the get-go and saw Ollie Peake bat around him in a big partnership, setting up the chase beautifully. While the first over of the Power Surge saw the ball flying everywhere in Melbourne, Johnson brought the Brisbane-based unit back in the contest with a double-wicket second Surge over.
JFM hammered his first half-century of the season, scoring 95 off 46 balls, with 5 fours and 8 maximums. While he was going crazy at one end, they lost wickets at the other end, but before Harry Dixon and Will Sutherland slammed a few boundaries.
Paul Walter got two wickets in the 17th over, but the chase was all but done by then. JFM missed out on his maiden BBL 100 but might have played a season-defining innings, which only time will tell.
Fergus O'Neill didn't allow any further hiccups to occur and finished things off with a whirlwind cameo, taking the Gades over the line in 18 overs.
Stay tuned for the presentation...

17.6 X Bartlett to F O'Neill
4 FOUR RUNS!!! FERGUS O'NEILL FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! BRISBANE HEAT DROP TO 6TH PLACE ON THE POINTS TABLE AND THEIR SEASON IS OVER! Short and outside the off stump. O'Neill charges down the track, giving himself some room to work it. Frees his arms and slaps it flat-batted downtown. No chance for mid on as it flies away to his left and thuds the advertisement board! Melbourne Renegades are still alive in the tournament as they move to the fourth spot, but need other results to go their way for the qualification!
17.5 X Bartlett to F O'Neill
6 SIX RUNS!!! This should seal the game for the Renegades! Brisbane Heat are on the brink of an elimination! What a time to hit a six! O'Neill, take a bow! Full and outside off. O'Neill gets low and drags it in the leg side. Not from the middle of the bat but has plenty in the hoick to clear backward square leg for a maximum. Melbourne Renegades are just one hit away from climbing the table.
17.4 X Bartlett to T Rogers
1 129.1 kmph. Back of a length on the middle stump. Cramps Rogers for room. He does well to open the bat face and steer ut to point for a quick single. No direct hit at the bowling end and Rogers gets home safely.
