2:20 PM IST, 7:50 PM Local Time: The match has been abandoned! It is still heavily raining at the Drummoyne Oval and the officials have decided that will be it. The ground cannot be prepared in time for the game to resume further.
A quick recap to the game, the Sydney Sixers won the bat flip and elected to bowl first. Amelia Kerr was the pick of the bowlers with 3/16. Ashleigh Gardner, Lauren Cheatle and Caoimhe Bray sharing 5 wickets amongst them to bundle out the Thunder for 121 in 19.5 overs.
In response, the Sixers lost skipper Ellyse Perry for a-run-a-ball 8 in the 2nd over with Sam Bates taking the prized scalp. Amelia Kerr got off the mark with a single finding Ashleigh Gardner at the other end before rain turned up and the game was eventually called off.
1 point each to both the teams, Thunder keep their stronghold at the pole position with 11 points, Sixers have 7 points to their name and are stranded at number 6 in the table. Sydney Thunder will face the Melbourne Stars next Wednesday with the Sixers facing Perth Scorchers on Thursday.
