Phew!!!! This new-age Indian team is playing some exciting cricket and it is tough to stop these batters once they are on song. South Africa found out what Bangladesh did in Hyderabad. Records kept tumbling as Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson went berserk at the Bull Ring. South Africa were always behind the 8-ball once India posted 283 runs on the board. Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya made life difficult for the top-order with prodigious swing. Once the Proteas lost 4 wickets inside 3 overs, it was only a matter of time before the Men in Blue got the job done, which they did in 18.4 overs. That's that from us. This is me Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my colleagues AkshayaKrishna Polya, Ninaad Dixit and Raju Khariya. Good night, BYE BYE!!!!
Suryakumar Yadav receives the trophy and hands it over to Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Dayal and Ramandeep Singh as Team India pose in front of the winner's banner. Fireworks go off and now the support staff also come in to pose for the camera.
Suryakumar Yadav (India Captain): "There's no secret to adapting to situations. Our plans were clear as soon as we landed in Durban. We wanted to continue the way we played on our last tour. We wanted to play with those habits and not think about the results. Its very difficult for me to chose from one good knock from both of them but it was amazing batting skills all three displayed. They walked the talk. There is something in the wicket after the temperature drops, we stuck to our lines and the result was in front of us. Winning the T20 WC gives a big boost. Especially from the situation that we won, it is difficult to express. Its always challenging to tour South Africa, win and go home. This will stay with me forever. The coaching staff was just sitting and enjoying the show since day 1. They told the boys to run the show and we will relax. That's what they did. Today also they told us if you want to bat first do it and put runs on the board."
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "Quite hard, to be honest. Ultimately, India outplayed us in all three aspects. We were looking to level the series but could not put a game together. With bat and ball, they put us under pressure. Credit to them. Some good, honest reflections need to take place now. Nowadays, you can't just be hitting the stumps. You have to use the wide lines. You have to flirt with the tramlines. I suppose you are happy with one or two, but we wanted to get better at execution and keep moving in the right direction as a team. Maybe not 15-20 wides, just two or three. Hopefully, in the long run, moving towards 2026 World Cup, we can get that right. I suppose, as a white-ball team, we have a few days off. We will have a good reflection and can get stuck into some work and come back better players with better skills and better execution. It is up to each individual to see their game's direction and invest in it. Marco Jansen was incredible. Gerald Coetzee, as well. It is tough in the Highveld with the extra pace, but their never-say-die attitude was really good."
Tilak Varma (Player of the Match and Series): "Last year when I played here, I got a golden duck. This innings was very crucial for the team and for the series. I just wanted to back myself. I was calm and just following my basics. I cannot express in words right now. I never imagined to score a century in South Africa. I want to thank god and the captain Suryakumar Yadav for giving me the number 3 slot. I was injured for the last 2 months so when I got to my hundred I wanted to thank god and looked up in celebration."
Player of the Match and Series: Tilak Varma
Varun Chakaravarthy: "Yeah definitely, last two games were challenging with the smaller boundaries. Even with a few sixes hit, we knew, one mis-hit can get us the wicket. 3 spinners in the series worked for us. Me and Bishnoi bowling in tandem is working good for us. The best approach is to stay away from the arc, I bowled a few short deliveries as well which worked for me."
