Time for wrap up our coverage as well, folks! West Indies Women hammered Scotland Women by six wickets and 50 balls to spare and this massive win boosted their Net Run Rate. The Women in Maroon are at the top of the table in Group B with a healthy Net Run Rate, while Scotland Women are reeling at bottom of the points table losing two games in a row. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Anirudh Modi and scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. CHEERS!
Injury Update: Zaida James is experiencing some swelling in her face and hand after being hit in the last match, which has led to her exclusion from today’s playing XI. She has been evaluated and, fortunately, does not have any fractures or breaks.
Hayley Matthews (West Indies Women Captain): "Yeah, I think it does justice to our Net Run Rate, which is really good. The way we performed as a group—starting with the ball and restricting them to under 99 runs—was impressive.

We probably could have kept them to an even lower score if we had fielded better, but 99 is still a solid effort. Also, I think Qiana Joseph's positive approach during the powerplay was crucial, and the way Chinelle Henry and Dottin finished off the innings was great. Overall, it was a really good win.

We limited the boundary balls as much as possible, making it difficult for them to score. Overall, I’d say we did a pretty good job, but there are still many areas where we can improve.

Yeah, I think the discussion centered around whether we had put ourselves in a secure enough position to push on for the win. With our batting order, I probably tried to be a bit too cautious and unfortunately didn’t get going, but we saw the positivity from Qiana Joseph when she came in. Once we realized we were in a strong position, it was great to see Chinelle and Dottin pick up the pace and really push forward.

We need to take it one game at a time. We have Bangladesh next in Sharjah, which is going to be a crucial match, especially considering how the wickets are playing there. At the same time, we have two important games ahead of us; if we win both, we can still reach the semifinals.

So, it's all about focusing on the Bangladesh game first. If we find success there, we’ll need to come up with solid plans for the final match against England as we aim for a semifinal spot."
Kathryn Bryce (Scotland Women Captain): "It was a good performance in the field, and getting wickets early on and putting pressure on them, we knew it was going to be a tricky pitch and with their batting firepower, I think we did well.

You need take those half-chances, and diving forward in the key, gaining momentum as well. Getting shape on the ball early made it tricky and with the slow outfield it was difficult to bat and score runs, I reckon 120 would have been a good total out there.

Just trying to let them play their own game and support it with knowledge, it is pretty tricky, the wickets are different from what we have been playing on, it is a big learning curve and it will give them a good experience going forward."
Chinelle Henry (Player of the Match): "I want to thank my team and coaches for believing in me. When we ere batting, the intention was to back our skills and execute. Bowling first, it was about attacking the batters as the wicket was slow and we reaped our rewards. Speaking with Dottin, we had a clear plan and once we backed our skills, it was just about executing.

This has been something we have been working towards. Matthews is a world class player and the day she does not contribute we have enough batting in the arsenal to win. Credit to everyone today, and especially to Qiana, she came in and played the innings we needed, once we lost Stafanie and Matthews."
Player of the Match: Chinelle Henry
10:10 PM IST, 8:40 PM Local Time: A comprehensive victory for West Indies Women as they thumped Scotland Women by 6 wickets and 50 balls to spare. The Women in Maroon open their winning account in the ongoing mega event and this massive win will definitely boost their Net Run Rate.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Scotland Women lost both their openers—Saskia Horley (11 off 9) and Sarah Bryce (2 off 7)—in quick succession. Kathryn Bryce (25 off 31) and Ailsa Lister (26 off 33) managed to stabilize the innings but struggled to score quickly. Chinelle Henry bowled her full 4-over quota consecutively, delivering back-to-back maiden overs and claiming two wickets during her spell. Afy Fletcher wreaked havoc with the ball in the middle phase as she removed both set batters in quick succession and put the Scottish team in deep waters.

Scotland Women kept losing wickets at regular intervals following the departure of both set batters and could only muster 99/8 in 20 overs. Darcey Carter (14* off 15) and Lorna Jack (11 off 11) were the valuable contributors for the Scottish side at the tail end of the innings.

Afy Fletcher topped the wickets chart for West Indies Women, grabbing three crucial wickets. Chinelle Henry, Hayley Matthews, and Karishma Ramharack celebrated a solitary wicket.

In response to a meager total of 99 runs, West Indies Women didn't get the start they wanted, as Rachel Slater struck on the fourth ball of the innings, dismissing Stafanie Taylor for just four runs. Hayley Matthews appeared sluggish and struggled to rotate the strike, while Qiana Joseph swung her bat at every delivery, managing to make enough contact multiple times to keep the scoreboard moving at a decent pace. Matthews' struggles continued, and she eventually fell victim to Priyanaz Chatterji, scoring just 8 runs off 19 balls.

Olivia Bell trapped Joseph and ended her 18-ball 31-run cameo, but it was too late by then, as West Indies had already scored 59 runs by then. Deandra Dottin (28* off 15) and Chinelle Henry (18* off 10) took the Scottish bowlers to the cleaners after the Drinks Break and sealed the game with 50 balls to spare.

Olivia Bell starred with the ball for Scotland Women, grabbing a couple of wickets, while Rachel Slater and Priyanaz Chatterji celebrated a solitary wicket.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.....
