So that is an end to our live coverage as well. Plenty of Test matches going around across the globe. Sri Lanka win this Only Test by 10 wickets and head into the white-ball series with confidence, with the first ODI taking place in Pallekele on Friday (February 9).
For now, I am AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur, brought you all the live-action of this red-ball game. We will meet again in another game. Until then, its cheers!
Dhananjaya de Silva collects the trophy and now takes it to his teammates. Now, they will pose for the photographs.
Dhananjaya de Silva (Sri Lanka Captain): "No idea about it (on becoming the 8th Sri Lankan captain to win a Test match on captaincy debut). Thank you. It is quite a tough task to lead a team which has many experienced players in it. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed it.
It was very challenging to bat with them bowling well. Yeah, I think Angelo and I got out in the last part of day 2. I thought it could have been the turning point in the game. But our bowlers kept executing the plans and bowled really tight lines and lengths. Afghanistan came back well, but our bowlers stuck to the plans and didn't give away many runs.
That's the way to play Test cricket, keep it tight, once you get one wicket, you can get 2-3. (on playing 3 pacers and 1 spinner) There was grass on this wicket, and two spinners wouldn't have been ideal on this pitch. Angelo was tired, it was definitely my fault (on run-out), I could have stayed on the crease. I should have realised that he was batting on 100."
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "Yes, boys played well. Feel disappointed. First day was the day we played badly. Sri Lanka were on top and then we let it slip. Yesterday, we came back well. I think lack of opportunities in Test cricket is why we are suffering. We need to play more games and get better at it. Next game we have against Ireland soon. We don't have much opportunity in red ball cricket. We have addressed that. This year we have more games 9 of them. Hope we gain experience and get better at it. Hope to do well in the coming Test matches."
