The local lad Muhammad Waseem was the lead character with the bat as he remained unbeaten on 89 alongside an entertaining cameo from the skipper Nicky P.
Chasing a mammoth total of 189 to win, impact sub Kusal Perera and Waseem destroyed the Knight Riders by thrashing them to all parts of the ground. Knight Riders dropped plenty of catches and were also poor on the field. After the departure of Perera, Pooran joined the party but failed to finish the game, getting out in the final stages of the game.
Earlier, Abu Dhabi were put into bat first, and they managed to push the total close to 190, courtesy of a late surge from Russell Muscle, hitting 6 sixes in his 46 off 17 balls. The foundation was laid early by handy knocks from Pepper, Sharafu and Hain, who all got to start but failed to up the ante. Farooqi did pick three wickets for MI Emirates and the team was sharp on the field as well, which made the difference in the end.
