Stafanie Taylor(Guyana Amazon Warriors Women Captain)- "The smile on my face is saying how happy I am. I am really happy. We played well and wanted to perform as a group and we did it.
Karishma was struggling a little bit in the first two games but we as a group backed her a little bit and it is so nice to see she came back in the last game and made her nerves relaxed. She took 3 wickets for 9 runs, well done to her.
We would try to look back to our performances before the final. I think our batting was good throughout but the bowling was a part to be concerned. Today our bowlers did well, we have to bowl well and we have to execute that.
Sophia Devine have been really well for us. She performs with the bat and ball and she alongside Suzie Bates have been great for our side."
Deandra Dottin (Trinbago Knight Riders Women Captain): "Yeah, unfortunately, it's a bit disappointing with the bat. I just think it's a matter of us as batters needing to take more responsibility and adjusting to the pitch early and seeing how Guyana were bowling and then just adjusting and moving to suit.
To be honest, the slow balls were a bit poppy, and then their spinners mixed up the pace as well, so it was a bit slow, and then some were actually keeping low. I think the performance that we have, we were a lot positive. No matter what the situation was, we also kept together, and I think that's a lot to take from it as well."
Karishma Ramharack (Player of the Match):"I felt really good coming off the last game, so I just went about my skills and, you know, bowl into the pitch again. I felt like we used the pitch well. Last year we didn't get to the final, so getting to the final is a big thing for us. Barbados is no walkover, so we're going to have to come better tomorrow. Look, it's been a tough journey so far. I'm still obviously trying to get over a lot of things, but I'm really happy to be back out and playing cricket again."
03:09 IST and 17:39 Local Time | Guyana Amazon Warriors Women will join Barbados Royals Women in the exciting WCPL 2023 final tomorrow!! They have outplayed their opponent Trinbago Knight Riders Women in all the departments today.
Chasing a paltry target of 73, Suzi Bates and Sophie Devine, the Kiwi duo started off in a very convincing style. The first over bowled by Fran Jonas was off 11 runs and that set the tone of the entire chase. Then Anisa Mohammad came to bowl the second over and she got hit for 8 runs. Suzie Bates scored a good 18 to ensure her team to get a good start.
After Suzie got dismissed to Dottin, Sophie Devine took the charge and scored boundaries in all the loose balls bowled at her. The final powerplay over by Samara Ramanath was of 15 runs. With 15 runs remaining from the last 14 overs, it was very easy for Stafanie Taylor and a well set Suzie Bates to chase it. Sophie Devine finished the chase off in style with a couple of sixes against Anisa Mohammed in the 8th over of the innings to stay not out at 38 off 19 balls hitting 3 boundaries and an equal number of sixes.
Batting first, TKR-W was going well until the middle over downfall struck them. Captain Deandra Dottin was batting well and scored 25 off 21 but none of her teammates supported her well. Only Kycia Knight reached the double figure mark of runs as she scored 13.
TKR-W lost 8 wickets in just a span of 20 runs and 45 balls! Guyana Amazon Warriors did it really well and special mentions will go to Karishma Ramaharack who took 3 wickets, Shreyanka Patil took 2 wickets to support her and also Sophie Devine, Sheneta Grimmond and Shakera Salman took 1 wicket each.
In the end the chase was just a cakewalk for the Guyana side and they are the finalists of the WCPL 2023.
