That's it from our side as another last ball thriller in the Indian Premier League comes to an end. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshaya Krishna and Megh Mandaliya and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
R Ashwin (Player of the Match):"I surprise people I guess. Sometimes I am sent up to bat and people are surprised that he has promoted himself in the order, he just took it upon himself but that's a role given to me. We lost Sanju, I was expected to just go and play there. I am far better judging my pace, when I want to go and not in a hurry like I really used to be before so taking a few balls. I want to be there, understand the situation and then utilize my strengths. I have my own strengths if I try to overcome my weaknesses a lot that is when I really succumb.
In every batting innings, I am padded up right from the start. So I don't know when I am going and when I am asked to go. That's not preferably a role a batsman would enjoy but I am okay with it because I don't get to bat very often so I'm happy.
Its lot more mental I guess. I've been bowling really well. I came in from a good Test form. In between I was hurrying through the crease bit more, not getting enough drop, not getting the ball to work for me so I just feel like I'm getting the length right able to drop the ball, change the pace. Usually I work really hard during the IPL. I've just taken a backseat and the bowling is taking care of itself.
When I was playing in Mohali for the Kings team, the wicket and the ground demanded something. I'd like to think after playing so many years, I probably guess and gauge what needs to be done there and I go with it because success or failure it must be on my terms."
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals Captain): "I think we have to give credit to the boys. Chasing that sort of a score, in this sort of ground with the dew factor around. The guys kept their cool. Almost every bowler contributed really well. Everyone was involved and wanted to win this game against CSK. We wanted to go back with happy memories and I have never had a happy memory at Chepauk. But really happy with the effort.
The ball was stopping a bit. The ball was gripping and we decided to bring Zampa in as our impact player. We knew if we can go past the powerplay, we can get back in the game. You never feel you have the upper hand in the contest. The match is not over till the last ball. We knew what MSD can do in the middle. I do a lot of planning and a lot of research with our data team. But a lot of calls have been taken inside the ground considering the situation of the match. A lot of thoughts are going around. Nothing works for MS Dhoni."
