In the end, a pretty massive 40-run win for Melbourne Stars. The target of 127 was always going to be too much and the Stars bowling attack was also at their best. Laura Wolvaardt started well but Linsey Smith got rid of her with a cracking catch from the skipper Meg Lanning. Thereafter, the young Tess Flintoff removed Dane van Niekerk and Tahlia McGrath in the space of three balls!

The Strikers' chase went nowhere from there as they kept losing regular wickets. Even the 16-year-old Rhys McKenna starred for Melbourne Stars as she picked up two wickets in her only over. In the end, Strikers could only round off with 89/8 to lose by a margin of 40 runs
