That's it for the coverage of this game. Until tomorrow, it's a ta-ta and a goodnight from me, Anurag Dasgupta and my co-commentator, Akshay Bhide.
David Willey | Winning captain - Today was close to a perfect performance from us, to do so in front of this crowd was superb. He (John Simpson) was fantastic, the way he played his shots was superb, he showed that he can play any type of game. Every game is a must-win for us, we have played some good cricket so far, without having the results to show for it. At the half-way stage, we just needed to bowl with the basics. Losing someone like Harry (brooks) to Covid is a huge blow, but as we saw tonight, it gives the others an opportunity to come out and show what they can do.
Carlos Brathwaite | Losing captain - It was a bad performance overall, we did create chances early on, but we dropped catches and then conceded boundaries as well. These things can happen, we are human, we couldn't handle the crowd pressure and the noise, we fumbled after creating chances. Chasing 200 off 100 balls, 99 times out of 100, you'll go on to lose.
John Simpson | Player of the Match: Definitely special and a knock I would cherish more than the rest. We knew it was going to be a massive match against the Originals and take the game on. Fortunately came off today and hopefully it would stand us good for Thursday. I just tried to get used to the wicket, take 4-5 balls and take the game from there and be smart with it. It was just one of those things and glad it came off. Rashid has been giving me a few headaches over the years as a kid. Mujeeb is world class. Both of them have fantastic variations and have created pressure in the middle periods.
Time for the presentation ceremony
DG: Chasing a gigantic total of 201, the Originals were never really in the chase. They got a flying start from Phil Salt, but that was the last hurrah for them. They lost wickets at regular intervals and the scoreboard pressure took a toll on their game plan. Nobody really got going and were jolted with a heavy loss at this crucial stage of the competition. Carlos Brathwaite was their highest scorer with 21 runs and that really summed up how badly the Originals performed today. Ben Raine was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 3 for 15 on a batting paradise.
DG: Oooff.. that was a one-sided affair and Northern Superchargers completely outplayed the Originals in all three departments of the game. They bowled superbly and dismissed the visitors for a mere 131 and in the process won the match by a whopping 69 runs. Superchargers move up to fourth after that emphatic victory.
W In the air and gone. That's it. That's the end of the match. Raine bowls it around off, Parkinson shimmies down and looks to go downtown but miscues it and Kohler-Cadmore at mid off moves to his right and takes a comfortable catch. A comprehensive performance from the Superchargers as they beat the Originals by 69 runs.
98b B Raine to M Parkinson
2 Slower ball on the shorter side, Parkinson pulls it aerially and Potts from deep mid wicket runs in hard and dives forward but fails to hold onto it. Couple taken.
