One of the finest spinners in England at the moment, Mathew Parkinson is a leg-break bowler and a force to reckon with at the domestic circuit.
Born in Bolton, England, Parkinson made his first-class debut for Lancashire against Warwickshire in 2016 and immediately made an impact, picking up 5 for 49 on his debut and in the process became the youngest Lancashire player to achieve this feat.
An attacking leg-spinner who loves to attack the batsmen, Parkinson caught the attention of the selectors very early into his career and the leg spinner made his England debut in a T20I game against New Zealand in 2019. He took his maiden wicket in the match in the form of Tim Seifert.
A year later, the talented bowler was selected in the England squad for the ODI series against South Africa, away from home. The Lancashireman made his debut in the first ODI game of the series.
During one of the 2021 County Championship games, Parkinson bowled a scorching leg spinner to dismiss a batsman. Fans immediately drew parallels with Shane Warne's 'Ball of the Century' which got the better off Mike Gatting.
Parkinson is yet to make his Test debut but has been included several times as a reserve player in the England squad. He has a smooth action and has all the tools under his belt to deceive the opposition batsmen. Still young at the moment, Parkinson is bound to be a successful bowler for his nation in the upcoming years.
